Joined CNN to talk about the Center for Campaign Innovation's latest research into what AI models are telling voters about candidates just a few weeks before Election Day. Each answer is unique and can vary significantly in tone:

when @jsscppr called me about this story I sighed and asked "is it that time of year?" Since 2019, I have been quoted in some version of this story and my advice is always the same. Invest in programs that recruit NEW DONORS and COORDINATE with other campaigns.

We can't control the political environment, the economy, historical trends, or even candidate quality – and wins are never guaranteed – but we can run more effective campaigns that put more candidates into competition when the political stars align.

There will be some Senate and House seats Republicans lose this year because the candidates did not invest in a digital fundraising program to help them net the extra $50,000 - $100,000 they might have needed to get over the line.

One of the biggest problems with GOP online fundraising is that we keep looking for easy solutions instead of fixing the underlying problems. Before WinRed, we were told technology was the reason we couldn't keep up with Dems. It wasn't. And it still isn't. 🧵 politico.com/news/2026/10/27…

Certain people love posting the Young Guns cover, now they can post this. October 2007: Three backbench Members of Congress take the photo, launch the brand, and build momentum. Two Speakers. One VP Nominee; Chairman of Ways and Means. Two Majority Leaders. Two Whips. Largest landslide election win since 1946. Not bad for three rank-and-file Members. #DealWithIt

All campaign messaging at this stage in the election should be about voting. Another policy or character argument isn't going to mobilize an infrequent voter.
Democratic 501(c)(4) Future Forward USA Action is using the fear of social embarrassment to get people out to the polls: "Remember, who you vote for is a secret, but whether you vote is public information. Your friends, family, and neighbors can look up your voting record."

Only 4% of voters used an AI tool to look up election info last month. But 38% read a Google AI summary — and half didn't know it was AI. B.J. Martino of The Tarrance Group on what the AAPC Foundation's new survey means for your campaign. → campaigntrend.com/voters-are…

Protecting personal data and preserving legitimate political communication are both important. Good policy has to understand how the two interact.

I don't think calling this an "icon" is appropriate nor do I think this kind of thing should be in a sacred space, BUT... if AI-generated imagery increases devotion to saints (who themselves always reflect their Creator) isn't that a good thing?
⛪ Belarus has blessed its first AI-generated religious icon The icon depicts Carlo Acutis, an Italian teenager who was canonized in 2025 and became known as the “Cyber Apostle.” The icon was installed in a Catholic church in Novolukoml, where Archbishop Tadeusz Kondrusiewicz blessed it on October 11. The move has sparked debate on social media, with some believers arguing that AI-generated images should not be used for prayer.

Randomizing college students to use (or not use) TikTok "increased negative emotional affect but had seemingly no effect on political attitudes." AKA, short-form influencer content makes you mad but doesn't change your politics (a similar result we see from FB studies)

If "poll knitters" are at your polling location you're in at least a D +70 precinct, right?

Today we're sharing some initial data on how Americans use Claude for politics, based on aggregated conversation data analyzed with differentially private methods. A couple interesting takeaways: *Almost no one asks AI how they should vote* About ~5.75% of conversations in the US touch on some kind of political or social issue in a recent one-week period, and less than 0.01% of conversations involve asking how to vote. *Political conversations have many goals* These conversations have wide-ranging goals, everything from research and writing assistance to learning, fact-checking, and arguing. We are continuing to make progress on improving how Claude talks about these topics---steadily increasing our performance on our even-handedness evals and partnering with a range of outside organizations to develop new measures of political bias---and I hope that sharing information about the shape of these conversations will help people outside the company evaluate AI's political bias, accuracy, and other criteria in ecologically valid ways. I'd love to discuss this with people who are interested, as it was a huge priority for me before joining. This was a big joint effort as part of our work preparing for the midterm elections @AnthropicAI. Full post is here: anthropic.com/news/2026-us-m…
