Happy #InternationalWomen'sDay!
Today, we're celebrating the women who are @EMSLscience users.
Among them are a group of women who led a project looking at how drought alters the benefit of fungi to the plant host.

By developing a semi-automated pipeline to apply robotics to the process, researchers found HT-SIP reduced labor to one-sixth that of the manual process while processing dozens of samples simultaneously.

Another paper finally out. I almost gave up on this one, but I'm glad I didn't. It's almost my last with the @Firestone_Lab , but hopefully not even close to that with @Jeffinerca and @erinnuccio .

Am thrilled to be leading "Terraforming Soil", a @Livermore_Lab Energy Earthshot Research Center focused on biological and geological solutions to accelerate scalable, affordable #carbondrawdown in the United States’ agricultural soils.
To reach our clean energy future, we need abundant, affordable, and reliable solutions. Those solutions will rely on fundamental science and innovative technology. We're providing $264 million for 29 projects that will support our Energy Earthshot goals: energy.gov/articles/doe-anno…

They’ve recreated a star, on earth. It’s so so cool.
Proud to work at @Livermore_Lab (even though I do nothing at NIF but stand in awe)
Congratulations!! – at Chicago, IL
On Dec. 5, 2022, a team at LLNL's @lasers_llnl conducted the first controlled fusion experiment in history to achieve fusion ignition. Also known as scientific energy breakeven, the experiment produced more energy from fusion than the laser energy used to drive it.

We found an impressive amount of diversity among hydrothermal vent protists! 🦠🔬📈 AND vent sites only meters away from one another were distinct! 📏🌋🌊What does this mean for potential protistan endemicity?! onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/…

In our new 'high-throughput' SIP-metaG paper, @nuccio, @AKakouridis @rachelhestrin et al. targeted the tiny habitat surrounding AM hyphae. They IDed 13C fixed by the host plant, moved by hyphae and taken up by a complex micro food web of bacteria and AOA.

A distinct group of Myxococcota (Fen-1088) were super 13C enriched, suggesting AMF is their primary source of C—are they predators of the AMF or another hyphosphere organism?✨
And surprisingly, an ammonia oxidizing archaea was one of the most enriched MAGs!✨
Creating the HT-SIP pipeline was an awesome collaboration between the SIP team at LLNL (@Jeffinerca, Steve Blazewicz, @acampbellina, Marissa Lafler, and myself) and @jgi
HT-SIP has enabled “SIPtacular” science at LLNL and @jgi through the CSP. Excited to see what we learn next!
