over the past couple of months, i’ve been leading a redesign of very’s brand identity. i have a background in architecture, so i wanted our new design to be humanistically beautiful, but also functionally simple (kinda like an apple interface.) very, as a company, connects the real world to the digital one. and the core of this is the human hand. to some extent, our product is a handshake of a user and the digital sphere. we wanted that reflected in our logo and design. out with harsh colors and cliche “star” logos. in with nature. let me walk you through what we were thinking.

not sure if i take big risks because i'm reckless or because i'm good at math.

the coolest thing i learned in design school wasn't what good design is. it was how to sell an idea. take bjarke ingels as an example, people give him billions to make buildings that are almost satirically efficient solutions to large problems. he is living proof that the way to win someone over isn’t convincing them that your idea is the “best”. but showing people it is absurd that your idea doesn’t already exist.

it’s the same idea with our imagery. we looked to designs which showcased our core product in a quick and digestible way. so we went with two hands about to shake, the universal sign of trust. it also reminds me of the creation of adam, which feels very appropriate for a world in which humans are working with agents. the landing screen (an idea venice gave us) opens into this world the way you would open a book. as you scroll the page open, you experience that layer: the internet as it needs to be, authentic and real.

the idea i wanted to introduce was hands-on interactivity. our new site is full of product demos and games you can play. It gives the user a tactile sense of being able to touch and feel this digital world and these abstract ideas. instead of being told what to do or how it works, you can play with it. then the easter eggs. my absolute fave things as a designer? fun little interactions that make the web feel as bouncy as real life. i want everything to have dope ass gravity and materiality. so we added a dot on the bottom which a user can “connect” in the same way a user connects the dots in a liveness check. on the 404 lives very junior, born from know your agent, our way of solidifying every agentic face into something uniquely ours. and to speak to my love of gravity, you can chuck him around. in the end, everything returns to the world around us. we are grinding towards creating a world where humans can find each other again.

my greatest talent and my biggest curse as a designer are the same thing: thinking 4,000 steps ahead.

Over the past few months, I’ve been leading this rebrand. Designing every nook and cranny I could get my hands on. Now my baby is alive and screaming. I’m so excited for you to interact with our new identity, and better understand what products we deliver. Soon this logo will be indispensable with the idea of authenticity.
Very has grown quite a bit in the last few months. Now, our brand is growing with it. Same palm biometrics and user authentication, refreshing new logo and look. (We’re going by Very now, but we’re keeping the same handle.) What do you think? very.org

everything is sales. @itszach
Something no one tells you when you're 20yo: MD at an investment bank = sales Partner at a consulting firm = sales Partner at a law firm = sales CEO at a startup = sales Partner at a VC firm = sales CEO at a AI lab = sales Sales is the lifeblood of any company, something I feel Europeans need to be reminded of more often than Americans.

wish someone had told young me that doodling in class was more productive than the class.

best part of being a designer is i can stare at the sky for 2 hours and still consider it productive.

a lot of "creative" jobs are in my opinion more like "communication" jobs. you have to do a therapist-like act of embodying the troubles and needs of someone else
