Of course I found his decades of work in theme parks inspiring, but the biggest thing I took from his interactions w/ me & others on here was his positivity.

Sad news. I had the great pleasure of interviewing Jim Lovell - he told me that of all the Apollo flights he could have chosen - Apollo 8 was the one because it was the first navigation of the ocean between Earth and Moon. He was in lunar orbit on my first Christmas Eve. RIP.
We are saddened by the passing of Jim Lovell, commander of Apollo 13 and a four-time spaceflight veteran.

A statement from the family of Apollo astronaut Jim Lovell on his passing:
"We are saddened to announce the passing of our beloved father, USN Captain James A. "Jim" Lovell, a Navy pilot and officer, astronaut, leader, and space explorer. He was 97.
We are enormously proud of his amazing life and career accomplishments, highlighted by his legendary leadership in pioneering human space flight. But, to all of us, he was Dad, Granddad, and the Leader of our family. Most importantly, he was our Hero. We will miss his unshakeable optimism, his sense of humor, and the way he made each of us feel we could do the impossible. He was truly one of a kind."

The United States condemns in the strongest possible terms the attempted assassination of Senator Miguel Uribe. This is a direct threat to democracy and the result of the violent leftist rhetoric coming from the highest levels of the Colombian government. Having seen firsthand Colombia’s progress over the past few decades to consolidate security and democracy, it can’t afford to go back to dark days of political violence. President Petro needs to dial back the inflammatory rhetoric and protect Colombian officials.
We stand in prayer with Miguel’s family, loved ones, and his supporters. Those responsible for this attack must face justice.
