Here's the dealio: I think Cloud saving Aerith had real tangible consequences, with a catch.
Her fate has A LOT to do with dreams and defying fate, and if you think I hate Aerith and want her to die, this might change your mind.
Hope you enjoy it: youtu.be/kmpD00A5-L0
So far we've not seen any major changes to Cloud's fighting style from the Revelation footage (Rebirth had a lot of new stuff over Remake).
This make me suspect that they might be hiding his AC fighting style, which could show up late in the game, revamping his whole combat.
What strikes in this quote is that he mentions "Cloud re-examining who he is" and "many of the story's revelations" in the same sentence.
It might drag until the endgame but I still believe there's a good chance the Remake mysteries are still at least partially Cloud-centric.
Naoki Hamaguchi says many of the story revelations in FF7 Revelation will be revealed through gameplay and not just exposition heavy scenes!
“When Cloud looks at himself and re-examines who he is, many of the story’s revelations will be expressed through the gameplay experience and performance experience that players receive”
He says the team carefully structured the game so that many mysteries from the previous games are often answered through gameplay progression and direct interaction with the world and story rather than only traditional exposition.

Whisper fight in the Lifestream Sequence is inevitable.

Just six weeks before we get the Revelation theme which will be about Kyrie.
Tickets are now sold out for @TheGameAwards 2026 - see you in six weeks!
All this Aerith/Tifa discourse is really taunting me to go and make an audience research about the fandom. I really want to understand what variables dictate what people like about stories, particularly ones which don't jave alternate endings or player choice.
The FF7 discourse is actually a great case study of how differently people approach fiction, and how different the reasons they care for a story can be.
Somewhere in there there's a great lesson for all of us but it's hard to look at it holistically.

If you don't go into the R series hoping for Aerith to live, it is simply not for you. The fact that Hamaguchi has said again and again how as a kid playing the game he did everything he could to get Aerith back plays into this.
If you have no hope, what's the point?
Alright some claim I'm deflecting so here goes:
I couldn't care less about who Cloud touches private parts with, but from the outside, it looks extremely obvious to me that the implication was that he and Tifa were together. I don't think you need to ship anyone to think that.
I don't want to sound rude, but it blows my mind that there are people who genuinely believe the only reason the FFVII Remake trilogy exists is because the writers didn't like who the main character ended up with IN THE STORY THEY WROTE and decided to make 3 games to change that.
💯

If your theorycrafting alienates new audiences then your theory might need adjusting.
2 things:
-The highlighted sentence is my absolute favorite from Hamaguchi ever.
-New players are absolutely at the center of whatever messages contained by the trilogy. I can't overstate how important that is in theorycrafting.
Bruh.
Does this outright confirm that the original battle between Cloud and Sephiroth takes place inside his head? Angeal has "dreams" in a similar looking place in FS, but they're Jenova corrupted as we know.
That flashback might be what LSS flashbacks look like, and is similar to the flashbacks that Sephiroth and Angeal get in Ever Crisis.
A new feature in Revelation which I haven't seen any talk about:
When you have enough to do a synergy ability, you now get a small notification that lets you know it's is ready for those characters.
Small change but so useful, I kept delaying them for no reason in Rebirth.
The FF7 shipping community is fascinating.
Either side always ends up infuriated by claims that might vaguely challenge their headcanons.
I've never seen a bunch of theory bros brigade a take they disagree with, yet it happens with shipping factions every single time.
The usual suspects will obviously brigade this for their own agendas, but the song being either about Cloud's resolution, Tifa's role in it or everyone's (including her) is possibly the most logical and straightforward guess.
I expect the theme to be tied to the LSS big time.

It will probably be about what the FF7 story really is about: the resolution of Cloud's arc.
Possibly something to work as a mirror to Hollow.
Wouldn't be surprised at all if it's about Tifa considering her importance to Cloud's arc either.
Let me say this in the nicest way possible: there is 0 chance that the part 3 theme song is about Sephiroth or from his point of view.
This is just totally besides the point. FFVII is Cloud's story.
Just to be clear, I don't personally think this mea's we get a Sephiroth redemption arc or a different "fate" for him. I still think the best we can get is a realization and acceptance to let go more rhan anything else, and that's optimistic.
