To everyone celebrating Lula’s reelection victory, I just want us to all acknowledge Erika Hilton right here. She’s a Black trans woman who became the most voted congresswoman in Brazilian history this cycle and has been campaigning nonstop for Lula in the second round
Derrotamos a Meta. Derrotamos as bets. Derrotamos os EUA. Derrotamos a milícia. Derrotamos a Faria Lima. Derrotamos a turma do Vorcaro. Derrotamos Flávio Bolsonaro. Lula é tetra, e de virada. Isso é HISTÓRIA, e cada uma e cada um de vocês ajudou a escrever 💗

This story is extremely important: A whistleblower revealed that Brazil's far-right Bolsonaro family dynasty met with Meta to discuss US plans to interfere in Brazil's election, to prevent Lula from winning. Lula's Facebook and Instagram accounts were censored a few days before the first round of the presidential election. This had a huge impact on the election, because Facebook, Instagram, and WhatsApp, which are all owned by Meta, are the most popular apps in Brazil, and are hugely influential all across Latin America. (Jair Bolsonaro's son Flávio was declared the winner of the first round of the vote, by a narrow margin.) Meta later admitted that Lula's accounts had been restricted, but it claimed that this was supposedly due to a "technical error"... The whistleblower who disclosed this is Nadia Beller, a Bolivian journalist who was almost killed by hitmen hired by Fernando Cerimedo, a far-right Argentine political operative who oversees election interference, bots, and disinformation campaigns. Cerimedo is closely linked to the US government and has worked for pretty much every right-wing leader in Latin America. He was photographed with Donald Trump Jr. and members of the Bolsonaro family, and he received an award at Trump's Mar-a-Lago resort in Florida a few months before he was arrested for the failed assassination attempt against Beller, his pregnant ex-girlfriend. And when one of the workers (who witnessed the negligence first hand) was willing to testify about it— ICE jumped in and deported the worker before he could go on the record. Abolish ICE.
Seven years ago today, the Hard Rock Hotel construction site collapsed in New Orleans, claiming the lives of three workers: Anthony Magrette, Quinnyon Wimberly and Jose Ponce Arreola. Today, we remember their lives and honor their memory.

I’m old enough to remember the uproar when President Ronald Reagan visited the Nazi war cemetery in Bitburg, Germany in 1985. Jewish groups didn’t think there should be “room to mourn” Nazi SS genocide perpetrators. But in 2026 it’s normal to tell Palestinians to “mourn” for those occupying, ethnically cleansing and exterminating them.
Zohran Mamdani: “I believe there must be room to mourn every single life. There must be room to mourn the lives of the more than 1,100 Israelis that Hamas killed three years ago. There must be room to mourn the 74K Palestinians the Israeli government had killed since. What I so appreciated about being at the vigil yesterday evening, as I had been the year before, is that it was a vigil that brought together New Yorkers to read testimonies of their own family members, of others who’ve been killed either on the day or in the genocide since and ends with a shared vision for peace and for an end to the genocide”

For those who believe we don’t have organized and coordinated censorship of the press in the United States: a billionaire family that has publicly declared Israel to be its single political issue, and is the single largest donor to Friends of the IDF, is buying up the entirety of the American media so any journalist critical of Israel doesn’t get a job, and any story critical of Israel doesn’t get broadcast.

I was banned from teaching and declared persona non-grata by Cornell police. Prohibited from being on campus and was told that if I want to see a doctor, I must seek permission first. My crime? Being anti-genocide. Yet if you do this, you write a letter and you’re free to roam.

ICE is a transcontinental terrorist organization that engages in kidnappings, human trafficking, forced disappearances, and murder
ICE is erasing immigrants with final deportation orders from a searchable online database, leaving families and attorneys in the dark. “It is truly a forced disappearance,” said Atenas Burrola Estrada of the Amica Center for Immigrant Rights. wapo.st/4yVu6sx

Only in a country where the left’s politics are completely consumed by celebrity culture can a government official who voted to fund the Iron Dome, Israel’s most important technology in its ability to wage genocide with impunity, moral grandstand and pretend she’s less complicit in said genocide and the crackdown on free speech than some D-list singer. Let’s be very clear: the reason we’re even in a wave of brutal McCarthyism—where artists are canceled for saying Free Palestine and Palestinians are snatched up by ICE—to begin with is because an administration that *she* served as the sheepdog and told us to keep voting for wanted to commit genocide without Columbia students yelling at them for it.
