Only my second ever local Glossy Ibis today on @marburypatch. The last was well over 30 years ago, when it was still a rarity. How times change. @CAWOSBirding
There’s some fantastic birding just around Kuala Lumpur. Mountain Peacock-pheasant & Ferruginous Partridge, Large-tailed Nightjar, Black & Yellow Broadbill and Rufous-backed Dwarf Kingfisher.
Malaysian Rail-babbler, Hulu Langat, Kuala Lumpur this afternoon. One of my ‘most-wanted’ for a long time. Very happy.
Sumatran Ground-Cuckoo, Danu Caco, today. Last time I was here, 19 years ago, this species was almost unknown. A sensational bird!
Night birding Mt Kerinci, Sumatra, 19 years since my last visit here. It was incredibly tough then and still is, but times have changed. Sunda Slow Loris, Schneider’s Pitta (💥), Sumatran Frogmouth & Salvadori’s Nightjar. Daytime birding is available too, we just don’t sleep!
Arrived in Kuala Lumpur today, with an afternoon to kill before Sumatra tomorrow. Managed to squeeze some sodden birding in for a couple of hours. Photos Large-tailed Nightjar and Little Green Pigeon. It’s so good the back in SE Asia!
An utter tragedy. George was my son’s friend, a kind, decent, fun-loving lad. He was a passionate match-going #mufc fan who we travelled to Old Trafford with. Devastated for his family & friends. Deepest red, RIP kid. @manutd @simplyutd @unitedstandMUFC bbc.co.uk/news/articles/ce95…
The highlight of 3 days in Kruger last week; a brilliant encounter with this stunning male Leopard. I could never tire of these.
Western Reef Heron, Foryd Bay at high tide today. A smart bird, and pleasantly close to home for a first for Britain.
That’s two weeks in India at a close. Fantastic crazy country with wonderful people, culture, food and, best of all, tigers. I’ll be back.
