Is generalized epilepsy a seizure of the whole brain or a specific brain network?
In our new paper out now in @NatureComms we investigate this by combining brain abnormalities and DBS with the human connectome.

A recent paper in @NatureNeuro raised concerns about the lesion network mapping method. Our team of 16 coauthors analyzed >1000 lesions and 34 symptoms and found that "The methodological foundations of lesion network mapping remain sound" biorxiv.org/content/10.64898…

Are connectome-based network mapping methods and the >200 papers that have used it invalid?
New paper out in @NatureNeuro says YES. nature.com/articles/s41593-0…
I have concerns about this new paper's methods and conclusions, but am biased. What do others think?

Welcome to the new term at the AAN!
Super excited to share my 1st @AANmember #PresidentSpotlight message with you! 💚 We really are minds on a mission. I found in the Academy my community — and together, as neurologists, we are stronger. Let’s get to work! 🙌✅ #NeurologyProud
25 years ago, @NataliaRostMD attended her first #AANAM as a medical student. Today, she leads the Academy as its president.

Lesions causing epilepsy map to a brain circuit, but what about generalized epilepsy? Great new paper (and thread) by @fredschaper_ @Brain_Circuits identifies this circuit with implications for #DBS.

A landmark paper on generalized epilepsy and CM DBS providing even more confirmation of the role of “network specific” neuromodulation for #epilepsy! Congratulations to @fredschaper_ on leading this effort!

We saw an interleaved pattern over the motor cortex, which reminded us of @ndosenbach 's inter-effector regions and somatocognitive action network (SCAN). Could the IGE network share connections with the SCAN?
