AI is accelerating science at breakneck speed. We are living through Science 3.0. In the next decade, there will be more scientific advances than in the entire past century! “Researchers released 36 preprints produced with a single suite of AI tools called BootLoops, a harness usable with any frontier AI model. In just 3 months, researchers used Claude with BootLoops to cross-pollinate at massive scale, spotting and solving problems in unrelated fields that share the same mathematical structures. The papers range widely, from figuring out the age of sunspots to analyzing government health policies to deciphering a mysterious medieval manuscript.”
Borrowing an idea from one research discipline to solve a thorny problem in another is an age-old scientific trick. Charles Darwin’s theory of natural selection, for example, famously inspired algorithms in computer science that “evolve” solutions to complex problems. But such clever leaps are fleetingly rare. For #AI, however, hopping between fields can be a breeze. Researchers highlighted that ability with the release of 36 preprints produced with a single suite of AI tools called BootLoops. The so-called harness can be used with any large language model, such as Anthropic’s Claude or OpenAI’s ChatGPT. And in just 3 months, researchers used Claude outfitted with BootLoops to cross-pollinate at a massive scale, spotting—and precisely solving—problems in seemingly unrelated fields that share the same mathematical structures. The resulting papers range widely, from figuring out the age of sunspots, to analyzing government health policies, to attempting to decipher a mysterious medieval manuscript. IBM JUST TOLD WALL STREET IT’S READY TO SCALE QUANTUM. HERE’S EVERYTHING THEY SAID $IBM reported earnings today, and Arvind Krishna spent part of the call on quantum. The biggest line was workloads that cost about $100 to run on IBM “could cost up to $10 million on slower competitive modalities.” IBM signed 16 enterprise quantum engagements this year, including AT&T and General Motors, across automotive, aerospace, telecom, finance and manufacturing. Its newest processor, Nighthawk R2, runs 7,500 gates, executes 100,000 circuits per second, and is up to 19x faster than the last generation. IBM connected its first modular cryogenic systems, the step toward linking machines into one big computer, and is building a 300,000-square-foot quantum manufacturing facility in Poughkeepsie. It’s in the final stage of DARPA’s quantum benchmarking program, and it closed a $1 billion Commerce Department award to manufacture quantum chips. The full update comes at IBM’s Quantum Day on December 10. Three months ago Krishna said quantum would hit IBM’s income statement by 2028. Tonight he named customers. $IBM $INFQ $IONQ $QNT
IBM’S CEO SAYS QUANTUM WILL BE WORTH A TRILLION DOLLARS BY THE END OF THE 2030S Arvind Krishna isn’t hedging anymore. On CNBC this summer he said quantum will have “a measurable impact on our top line and bottom line” by 2028 or 2029. Then he went further, “By the end of the 2030s, we are now pretty convinced this is a trillion dollars of value.” This isn't some startup CEO pitching investors. That’s a 115 year old company that sells to banks and governments. And IBM is spending like it means it, more than $10 billion on quantum over five years. A target of a large scale, error-corrected quantum computer by 2029. A new quantum chip foundry called Anderon, backed by $1 billion from the Commerce Department and $1 billion from IBM. Meanwhile it just bought HRL Laboratories from Boeing and GM, the lab that put a quantum computer’s control electronics inside the freezer. The trillion dollar figure is value across the whole industry, not IBM’s revenue. But the date is what matters. Two years ago, “commercial quantum” was always 10 years away. Now the CEO of IBM is putting it on his own income statement within three years. IBM reports earnings tonight. Watch what he says about quantum. $IBM $INFQ $IONQ

This is the moment I’ve waited decades for, since I dreamed of a time when we could create virtual cells & fully simulate biology in silico with AI. As I’ve repeatedly said, virtual biology & eventually digital twins are key to curing all diseases & aging. Time to accelerate!🚀
A universal predictive model of the cell would dramatically accelerate science, allowing biologists to perform experiments digitally. Today we’re announcing a major partnership with the DOE and NIH. The goal of this partnership is to generate the data that will be needed to build an accurate model of the cell with artificial intelligence. Isomorphic, Google DeepMind, and Meta are joining us as founding partners in the Virtual Biology Initiative. This is the beginning of a large scale coordinated effort to map cellular biology to power the development of digital models of life. Other leading scientific institutions and consortia including the Allen Institute, Broad Institute, Gladstone Institutes, the Human Cell Atlas, the Human Protein Atlas, the Wellcome Sanger Institute, as well as NVIDIA, are working together as part of this international scientific project. Creating a predictive model of the cell is one of the most important challenges for the next decade of science. The insights that come from this could unlock a far greater understanding of disease, and open new paths for cures. We invite the worldwide scientific community and other funders to join us in this effort.

🧬 A 3D-printed retina is bringing sight restoration one step closer Imagine a tiny artificial retina that can actually mimic the complex layers of the human eye. That is exactly what researchers in South Korea are working toward. Scientists at POSTECH and partner institutions have created a 3D-bioprinted retina-on-a-chip using specialized retinal bioink. The model contains both blood-vessel and nerve-like layers, allowing researchers to recreate retinal vein occlusion — a condition that can lead to severe and irreversible vision loss. But there’s an important detail hidden behind the viral headlines… 🚫 They have not printed an entire human eye or restored sight in a blind patient. Instead, they have created a sophisticated laboratory model that behaves more like real retinal tissue. This could give scientists a powerful new way to study eye diseases and test potential treatments before moving to human trials. And that may be the most exciting part. Today, damaged retinal tissue is extremely difficult to repair. Tomorrow, technologies like this could help scientists understand how to replace, repair, or regenerate the cells responsible for vision. We’re not at artificial sight yet — but the road toward regenerative eye medicine is becoming much more real. Source: Postech, & partner institutions. 300 agents shouldn’t be running all day. they should just appear for 28 minutes, finish the job, and disappear until next task the bigger an agent swarm gets, the less the individual agent matters. what matters is the system connecting them. 100 agents can create up to 4,950 possible pairwise relationships. 300 = 44,850. when a real signal appears, it spins up the workforce: 1 trigger → 100–300 Kimi agents → 5 live data feeds → up to 4,000 steps → verified artifact and that’s before adding: sources → claims → memory → tool calls → contradictions → retries so the architecture has to continuously compress all that activity into one shared state. more agents gives you more compute. the graph is what stops that compute from turning into noise.

We're publishing our most detailed threat intelligence report to date. It covers how people tried to misuse Claude—for cyberattacks, influence operations, surveillance, biology, and building weapons—and how we found and stopped them. We disrupted every operation in the report, and used the lessons from them to strengthen our safeguards. Where appropriate, we also shared what we found with authorities and other AI companies. These cases are not typical: we’re highlighting some of the most sophisticated misuse we’ve seen. But they’re especially important to discuss, because they show us where AI misuse is headed, where our safeguards work, and where they need to improve. We’re publishing this report so others can spot the same activity on their own platforms, and so we can give the public a clearer view of how emerging threats develop. Astronomers have discovered the largest structure in the Universe 🌌 Scientists have identified the "Kipu" superstructure, which spans more than 1.3 billion light-years. With a mass of 200 quadrillion solar masses, it ranks among the most massive cosmic structures known. The name "Kipu" alludes to the ancient Inca system of knotted-string records; the newly discovered structure also resembles a main strand with branching offshoots. The motion of galaxies within the structure influences measurements of the Hubble constant, which determines the rate of cosmic expansion. Despite its immense scale, the object aligns with the Lambda-CDM model, which predicts the existence of such formations. While Kipu may eventually disintegrate, it currently serves as a unique laboratory for studying dark matter and galaxy evolution.

GPT-6 Astra is now the best-performing frontier model for antibody developability prediction in our benchmark. 🧬 Finding an antibody that binds is only the beginning. Will it aggregate? Will it stay stable? Can it actually behave like a drug? GPT-6 Astra predicts these developability properties better than the other frontier models we tested. 🤯 And yes, the interactive visualization showing how an antibody actually works was also built with Astra in about 1 hour. This model looks seriously powerful. Congrats @gbt @sama #insilicoSOTAFM
