It was a very cold -4c this morning at the #UDDGP project site. We will continue with the #geothermal well testing this month with the minimum number of people at the site, everyone else is #workingfromhome

Combining #MineralProcessing with lightning and #MachineLearning, this article shows that computers can determine breakage rate of rocks by the noises during processing, and this can be used to estimate size reduction. sciencedirect.com/science/ar… #mining #mineralsengineering

Potentially of huge significance to the natural resources sector in Cornwall @CornishLithium @BritishLithium @LEPCornwall_IoS
Ramifications of the UK-EU deal just became visible. Up until Jan-24, battery materials are allowed t/b sourced for 70% outside both regions, after that ⬇️ to 50%. UK w/b forced to develop battery supply chain, currently lagging other major regions. bit.ly/387PIIk

We’ve been working hard finding how we can safely run field classes in line with Covid-19 guidelines, and we were delighted to get out last week with our 1st year geologists to Godrevy! Even though the weather and angry sea tried to scupper our plans, we all had a great time! 🤩

Here is a brilliant geology PhD project related to deep geothermal energy. Cornwall is the most prospective area in the UK and Eden Geothermal are drilling a 4.5 km deep well in 2021. You need to be enthusiastic about granite because you’re going to be seeing a lot of it 😉.
🚨PhD PROJECT ANNOUNCEMENT🚨- Interested in granite mineralogy/geochemistry, fracture/vein systems + development of deep geothermal energy? Great project here working with the Eden geothermal team. See: bit.ly/3p1sWsb (apply by 16.11.20). #granite #geothermal #cornwall

Plenty of this around #Cornwall and #Devon! It was even mined itself in some areas
Replying to @MiningRemAuth
So what is it and what is it used for? Great question! Ochre (hydro ferric oxide) is an orangey type sludge, kind of like a clay, that can be found at our mine water treatment schemes 💧🔎 (2/4)

1. New and known #tungsten targets are identified with confidence and are of particular interest for follow-up studies. I'd expect this to be further refined with a modern #geophysics survey. Still lots of mineral potential in #Cornwall and #Devon! doi.org/10.1016/j.gsf.2020.0…
