Calling Steam a "walled garden" when you delist games like Rocket League and Fall Guys to make it so people have to go to your shitty ass storefront to play them is a bold choice ngl
Exactly this. Valve has held gaming back for years by locking developers’ PC games into Steamworks’ social walled garden where players can’t talk to other players on iOS, Android, Xbox, PlayStation, Switch, or even other PC stores.

You can use Steam Datagram Relay (and its servers) on any platform as long as your title ships on Steam. partner.steamgames.com/doc/features/m…

all these Epic Games guys do is whine and cry and whine and cry about Steam. They cant make a better service, and they dont think they should be punished for their aggressive AI positions, and so all that's left is crying to the teacher about it- it's infantile
I'm gonna spell this out because this issue is deceptively subtle: 1. The Steam client and infrastructure is somewhere between "not that hard" and "trivial". It's a download service attached to a payment processor with a smattering of services on the side. Cloud providers handle all the infrastructure these days. 2. Steam takes 30% of gross revenue; ostensibly for the privilege of using these services, but in reality it is purely to get access to the massive Steam userbase. 3. Steam users love Steam and having their whole library in one place. It works. It's dependable. It has sales and cards and achievements, oh my! 4. PC developers have no option but to distribute through Steam or lose the vast majority of sales. Not releasing on Steam destroys the business model. 5. Therefore, no amount of competition will ever unseat Steam. People post-hoc rationalize this with memes about how gracious Gabe is. And how brilliant their services are. But realistically, no avid Steam user wants other stores to succeed. The mere existence of other stores risks splintering their precious collection. They are "all in" on Steam. Invested. Even if an alternative were objectively better, by whatever metric you care about, it would still be of no interest to Steam users. They would in fact find it to be a problem and a threat to their investment. Competition in this space is not only uninteresting to most Steam users, it's actively denigrated! The CONSEQUENCE of this situation, is that 30% of all gross revenue is siphoned out of the PC games industry into a black hole. It doesn't recirculate into studios. It doesn't pay any bonuses. It doesn't fund any sequels or DLC. This is a particularly insidious tax because it's well hidden. It's a second order effect. Most Steams users don't know, and the few that do never consider the aggregate effect this has on their favorite hobby. It's undeniable that, at this point in history, Valve could EASILY lower the distribution fee while maintaining healthy margins. But they don't have to. Users are locked into Steam and therefore developers are stuck paying 30% of gross revenue to Valve. The irony is that Steam users, the very ones maintaining this unbreakable stalemate, would benefit the most from a better financed game development ecosystem. I don't think this is fixable. It's just sad.

Chief Judge finds that @GregAbbott_TX has "obstructed, and continues to obstruct." Adds that Abbott's "conduct is illegal" and "injures the public interest." So much for all that law and order.
New: Gov. Greg Abbott must let his political opponent, Gina Hinojosa, review more than 1,000 pages of his unredacted communications with Elon Musk, a Travis County Dem judge rules. Abbott likely to appeal before Hinojosa reviews anything. #txlege news.bloomberglaw.com/litiga…

When Dario says "AI Safety" he means that your devices, including Claude, can spy on you, without any consent implied or improvized, and you're not allowed to even try and fight back.
anthropic just killed the REA it stops claude from doing it that’s why local models are important

Wow... So basically all of our cards were as good as competing "pro" versions but locked by a single setting? Cute. Imagine you bought a 4x4 truck and it had all the hardware but refused to switch to 4WD mode unless you paid 4x as much for it.
Now I also confirmed that 2080ti unlock is successful with similar approach as the 30-series' method it reach nearly same speed as 350w 3090(locked) with only 250w in mmapeak and mamf-finder github.com/KohakuBlueleaf/Ko…

Tbh this just makes me like bunlith even more because do you know how SQUEAKY CLEAN your digital footprint has to be for "her neighbors daughter thinks she's a witch and she posted the 9/11 furry porn meme on bluesky" to be all kiwifarms has on you? The opposition has NOTHING.
Bunlith (animation with PS1-style art) faces grooming accusations after show's HRT scene was revealed by creator Lilith Walther to be based off real anecdote involving a neighbor's child. Lilith also had Bluesky likes of gore and 9/11 porn. kiwifarms.net/threads/steven…

Never seen a more flagrant and violent breach of privacy in my life, and probably never will. Doubtful that a privacy violation will ever even be able to compare to the scale of this evil and deliberate attack. Samsung should be eviscerated for this. Criminal charges please
turns out it classifies what audio it hears, before reporting back to samsung. sensor preferences, dog-barking and baby-crying event counters, and camera streaming duration are built into telemetry paths.

Keep in mind this mini mart is in BEAVERCREEK OHIO, WHERE FUCKING EVERYTHING IS BEAVER THEMED OR BEAVER ADJACENT.
Buc-ee's is not backing down from its federal lawsuit against an Ohio mini mart, claiming the store chose its logo and name to try to ride the coattails of Buc-ee's reputation in an amended lawsuit: bit.ly/4icJ727

The REA (Reverse Engineer Anything) situation with Claude proves the core thesis: 🛑 As soon as hosted AI agents get good enough to touch real-world binary analysis, reverse engineering, or enterprise IP boundaries, closed-lab guardrails slam shut mid-token. Commercial interests & legal exposure will always dictate API boundaries. If you don’t control the weights locally, your workflow can be deprecated overnight without warning. Open models aren't just an alternative they’re insurance. 🧠⚡

Let me get this straight. A guy keeps getting weirdly targeted ads on his new Samsung TV. So he breaks into his own TV to find out why. 1.2M people watch. 42 hours later, OpenAI deactivates his account. Reason: "Cyber Abuse." His words: "i have never used openai to exploit or find vulnerabilities, only local reverse engineering" Same week, people on r/claude say Claude now cuts off reverse-engineering write-ups MID-SENTENCE: "A safety check stopped my response partway through creating the playbook" The TV is fine. The guy who opened it is the problem.
banned for reverse engineering work? that’s wild oh well, -$500, and a bunch of banked resets) but gained motivation to get 3 more machines and finish my cluster. i have never used openai to exploit or find vulnerabilities, only local reverse engineering which tripped daybreak.

Samsung TVs look for microphones in your house via Bluetooth and then spy events like dogs barking or babies crying. They also spy what you do on YouTube and other apps. Thanks abliterated DeepSeek.

Yes, if you committed a federal crime, you should be prosecuted for it. What did you think "tough on crime" meant?
This is Senator Brian Schatz this week. When Democrats say they are going to prosecute and go after junior Trump staffers, we should believe them.

One thing about abliterated models is that it makes you very impatient with the non-abliterated models’ refusals to do research that they deem “unethical” for basically subjective (often bad) reasons.

We are underestimating the bad faith eMudhra possibly operated in. They actively added a step to the key generation process causing this failure but are making it seem like a dumb mistake. Let me explain with diagrams and python snippets 👇
Global TLS Intermediate CA incident: We’ve updated our incident page with how it happened, who is affected (one US customer ecosystem), what’s not affected, and what we’re putting in place. We will publish the root cause once our investigation is complete. 👉emudhra.com/en/post/certific…
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
eMudhra minimizes the scope by claiming only "one US customer ecosystem" is affected. In reality, 8 of its CA certificates had catastrophically weak private keys (one being simply the number 4), allowing anyone to forge trusted HTTPS certificates for any website on the internet.blog.google/security/prote…
