.@plebhash is a developer based in Brazil 🇧🇷 and another recipient of direct Btrust developer funding outside Africa. His work focuses on @StratumV2, a protocol for communication between mining devices, proxies, and pools. With the long-term grant, plebhash will maintain the specification and reference implementation, improve interoperability, and strengthen production reliability, helping developers and mining operators build on dependable open-source software.

.@ProjectLoupe reads bitcoin code all day looking for vulns. Fueled by energy drinks and cold pizza, its existence is bleak but necessary. The @StratumV2 team took its findings, fixed them, and rebuilt their security process. Their stack is now among the hardest in mining.
Rare to report bugs and get a rebuilt security process back. Giant ups to the @StratumV2 team on the release, and thanks for being early with us.

In this week’s update by @TumaBitcoiner, we feature the latest releases for the Stratum V2 protocol (@StratumV2). Maintainers focused mainly on hardening, refactoring and bug fixing, while also introducing support for BIP323. We also cover several news from the developer ecosystem. Notably, we discuss a first working proof-of-concept for a post-quantum Lightning implementation, a new scaling protocol to bring self-custody to a huge number of users, and other interesting news.

New SV2 releases are out, bringing security hardening and various other improvements to our libraries and applications! 🧩 SV2 Protocol libs v1.12 🏗️ SV2 Apps v0.8 ⛏️ SV2 UI v0.7 (coming soon on @umbrel) Applications updates improve Job Declaration stability and Bitcoin Core integration, Translator Proxy overhaul, and add automatic discovery of ASIC telemetry endpoints. Protocol library highlights include a deep hardening pass over channels_sv2, a breaking refactor of the codec and framing layer, BIP323 adaptations across the protocol stack. Noise_sv2 was improved with regards to memory hygiene, nonce reuse, RNG quality, and buffer recovery. Every published crate that changed takes an incompatible version bump, so downstream consumers should expect to adapt. We’re proud to have been early participants in @ProjectLoupe . Their findings helped shape this release and gave us a head start in adapting how we triage reports, prioritize fixes, and organize development around security. Thank you to the Loupe team for their work and support!

A massive set of Stratum V2 updates is out, with security hardening and improvements across the protocol libraries and applications. Kudos to the entire team for getting this release out. The changelog is wild.

You can now split Bitcoin mining rewards with no pool operator. Solo-style template control, with much lower payout variance. One-click on Umbrel and StartOS. Install, paste a payout address, it joins the GridPool network. No custodial wallet. No sharechain. No central share accountant. You keep your own templates hidden. SV2 only for this beta. If you run Umbrel or Start9 with SV2 firmware, I need you on the network.

After the Coldcard RNG bug, some advised rolling dice or adding a passphrase. Both saved a few users this time. Neither protects against the next flaw. Multi-vendor multisig should be the new standard. New article on why, with 5 concrete Liana setups → wizardsardine.com/blog/the-m…

Had a great time discussing @StratumV2 on the debut episode of HashHuddle, @f2pool’s new podcast for miners!
What does Stratum V2 change for Bitcoin miners? In the first episode of hashhuddle, f2pool sits down with independent @StratumV2 contributor @pavlenex to discuss mining efficiency, miner-built block templates and the path to wider adoption. 🎙️ Watch the conversation below.

I hope @ocean_mining soon becomes part of @StratumV2 Working Group
OCEAN's next chapter Bitcoin mining and block template construction have become concentrated in a small number of pools. When a handful of operators can decide which transactions make it into blocks, Bitcoin's censorship resistance increasingly depends on their goodwill rather than the design of the network. That is a security problem. We exist to fix it. What we're building. We built DATUM to put block template construction back in miners' hands. It is open source on the client side and will be open source on the pool side early next year. We will continue our effort integrating Bitcoin’s Lightning Network, for trustless payouts and for encouraging compatibility with the best available standards, features, tools. We will work with miners, partners, other pools, and protocol developers (like SV2) to make decentralization a priority for the next era of Bitcoin mining. Building your own template, permissionlessly, provides sovereignty to miners. Freedom to choose which transactions to include empowers all miners to act as a gateway for the free market to Bitcoin's blockspace. And doing it all locally on your own node cuts down bandwidth requirements enormously, while the TIDES payment system provides more direct exposure to the upside. More independent miners, making more independent decisions, using less bandwidth, and earning more Bitcoin (3.6% more on OCEAN in 2025, to be precise). Where we stand. Our pool remains on SHA-256. We are not adopting any proof-of-work change. To our miners. Nothing changes for you. Service and support continue uninterrupted. Nacho Pauls remains your first point of contact. The next chapter starts now. Let’s build! 🌊
