A team deleted about 168,000 lines of comments from its codebase, and the AI coding agent working on it scored the same either way. Roberto Aranda of OpenStation made a copy of the code with every comment stripped out. He then gave Claude Code the same two tasks on both copies, three runs each. Every run passed lint, type checks and the existing tests. A separate AI judge scored each result without being told which copy it came from. On the small task, scores out of 19 came in at 18.3 with comments and 19.0 without. Tokens were 2.18M against 1.71M. On the bigger task, scores out of 23 were 21.7 and 22.0, with tokens at 9.06M and 9.12M. Aranda is careful about what this shows. He calls the score differences noise and names the small task's 22 percent token saving as the one real effect. He also shows what cherry-picking does. Compare one pair of runs on the bigger task and removing comments looks 30 percent more expensive. Compare another pair and it looks 31 percent cheaper. He says three runs per branch rules out a big effect and not a small one. My read: put a number on how small. On the bigger task the three comment-free runs used 7.01M, 9.70M and 10.64M tokens, a range of 3.63M. The difference between the two branches was 0.06M. So the thing being measured is about one sixtieth of the scatter the measurement produced. That is not a weak result. It is a result this design could not separate from noise. openstation.blog/2026/10/13/…

OpenStation’s codebase has over 178,000 lines of comments. We removed them, keeping only documentation, and had two agents build the same feature, one with comments, one without. @glomenar will publish the results at openstation.blog.

I am surprised that people are surprised this is how I prompt Claude. Talk to Claude the way you would a coworker. There's no secret to prompting. There's no need to be overly scaffolded or prescriptive for most tasks -- give Claude a goal, and it will figure it out. Back in the Sonnet 3.5 days, your prompt mattered a lot. Nowadays, it's much more important to communicate to the model: 1. What you want it to do 2. How much effort you want it to spend 3. How it should verify that it did the right thing

We had a soft launch of @SpacefastHQ yesterday before our board meeting, @batuhan (and now a team!) have been cooking what I think is the future of @WordPress and AI. You don't have to know or think WordPress, but this leverages wp.cloud to give you a Real Database, auth, uploads, email, @akismet / @automattic spam protection, and soon stats. The architecture is amazing I'd actually love to talk to @Lovable et al see if we can host things for them for less than they spend now. Datacenter space and components are getting pricey... So we might have to limit signups to prioritize our @WordPressVIP customers but get in while you can!
so yesterday @batuhan gave me access to @SpacefastHQ and i got to play with the product, even transferred a project from cloudflare. actually, claude code did it super seamless and agent friendly experience i like cloudflare but its still too much for non dev vibe coders like me. spacefast just feels friendlier, better ui, better control, agent friendly from the ground up

I think one of our biggest advantages at Automattic is our server infrastructure. Spacefast could make really good use of that. And at OpenStation, we’ve already bet on it by hosting our landing page there. Spoiler: IT’S A WONDERFUL EXPERIENCE openstation.me

Opus 5.5, GPT 6 Astra, Fable 5.1, Opus 5, Opus 4.7, Opus 4.6. All of them were LLM's we used to create #OpenStation. I can't believe this is still #WordPress
