People seems to be under rating the tariffs as part of the cause. Inflation was the single issue and both tariffs and the Iran war contributed

My take on the election is that every MAGA republican I know has refused to defend trump for 6 months or so, but they are still all republicans. I don't foresee a long term shift no matter how poorly Rs do

Interesting to see that Rs don't doom the same way Dems do

Wife sold an old kitchen appliance on her work classifieds for $50 and the guy showed up with a wallet full of $20s and me with no change Zero hesitation, he pulled out a coin to flip & told me to call it to decide if I was selling for $40 or $60 Massive degen move, big respect

Autistic guy at my CVS got really excited I was purchasing Almond Mounds. Apparently his favorite candy bar. He let me take it for free as “a tip” for being a great customer. I asked him if he would get in trouble for doing that and he’s like yeah they get mad at me for giving stuff away every day

the anduril war dog company is a missed opportunity. instead of bomb-sniffing dogs, why not genetically engineer humans to sniff bombs? if given the choice, i'd want my kids to have bomb detection instinct.

Without God, Art quickly withers away. We might build a big factory or highway but no more cathedrals. Likewise, cultures that eliminate Art soon find themselves losing God.
a fatal failure of atheism has been it's inability to rival religious structures in any way whatsoever

Another vulnerability few are talking about: I found my Claude Code exposing personal data in http headers because the sites it curled politely asked agents to identify their users 😊 Epistemic cybersecurity is the hot new category for 2027.

Who was that guy vague posting about crazy stuff happening in the security space? He definitely under sold it

I could not stand writing poetry for school as a kid and I’m still salty about it Teachers don’t explain what poetry is or what makes it good because it’s hard and kids don’t understand even when you do it right So they just tell you to write something, but make sure it good!

this universe has many hidden dimensions. my neighbor told me he noticed his cat was getting fat so he followed him one day and saw him go into a pet door at a house one block away and come out with a slice of pizza.

Everyone complains that I use my phone when I hang out with groups, but I’m the one who coordinates everything, no shit you get to be off your phone, I’m doing all the work here

Weird to see all these people living in Japan not understand how higher energy earthquakes work

Tbc, the whole point of switching from the richter to the moment magnitude scale is that, after about 8.0, earthquakes stop producing larger movements and instead mean longer duration and area
