Dear @_GeorgeFinch
At the weekend it seems you said on TV you know how 80% of people in Bedworth Bede ward will vote. Do you not know that 63.6% of those eligible did not even vote in May 2026 and overall you had the vote of 21% of possible voters in Bede. Now you have lost 1/4 of them since May and it takes the Labour MP to get potholes in Bede fixes. Your main focus has been on flags, books and TV appearances.
Meanwhile both councils you lead have major issues with budgets and staffing.

Two years after our "Bohemian Trumpsody" #Queen parody (on Trump's presidential election, with footage from the Capitol attack - see below), here's our take on Freddie Mercury's high-energy belter, twisted to the forthcoming #Midterms, which we're calling:
👉"Go, Stop Him Now!"
Here's our last parody song about the #USElection2024. It's called "Bohemian Trumpsody" (based on the inimitable @QueenWillRock but with only six voices & no overdubs) & we've self-trolled in it as 'libtards' already, just to save folks time who might be offended 🎶🗳️🤞

Gas, not renewables, is the biggest driver of UK electricity bills. Pricier gas explains nearly 90% of the rise in household bills since 2020.
Gas plants still set the power price most of the time. Cutting gas is the surest way to cut bills.

🚨 BREAKING: GOVERNMENT ORDERS RAPID INVESTIGATION INTO ASHFIELD DISTRICT COUNCIL
Today, I have received an extremely significant response from the Minister for Local Government, Jim McMahon MP, following the serious concerns I have raised about the leadership, governance and conduct of Ashfield District Council.
The Minister has confirmed that he has instructed Government officials to carry out a rapid Best Value Assessment of Ashfield District Council, including the serious matters I have raised, and to report back to him within the next few days.
This is a rapid Government investigation into the concerns raised and represents a significant step forward in securing accountability and transparency.
The Minister has also confirmed that:
✅ Senior Government officials have been instructed to seek an urgent meeting with the Council's Chief Executive.
✅ A separate urgent meeting is being sought with the Council's external auditor.
✅ A meeting with me is being arranged to discuss these serious matters further.
The Minister has described the concerns raised as "very concerning indeed" and has made clear his commitment to ensuring the highest standards of leadership, governance and financial management in local government.
This is a hugely significant development.
For far too long, serious questions have been raised about the way Ashfield District Council operates, the decisions being taken and the impact those decisions have on the communities we represent.
These concerns have developed over years, not months. They deserve proper scrutiny, transparency and answers.
I have been clear that we need an independent Government inspection that leaves no stone unturned.
The Government has now taken the important step of launching this rapid assessment, and I welcome the Minister's urgent intervention.
However, this must be the beginning, not the end. I will continue to push for a full, independent inspection and for every serious concern to be properly examined.
Let me be absolutely clear. This is not about political point-scoring. It is about accountability, public confidence and ensuring that residents can trust the council making decisions on their behalf.
No council should be beyond scrutiny. No serious concern should be swept under the carpet. And no community should be left without answers.
I welcome the Minister's swift and decisive response. I will continue working to ensure that the concerns raised are fully investigated and that any necessary action is taken.
The people of Ashfield deserve answers. They deserve transparency. And they deserve a council they can trust.
I will not stop pushing until that happens.

This is the statement issued by the Met Police about the Defend Our Juries demonstration today. Commander Adam Slonecki, from Scotland Yard, said: “All those intending on coming to this event know that supporting a proscribed organisation is unlawful – they are essentially meeting to purposefully commit a crime.” This is a remarkable contrual of the law and extent of police powers. Surely it cannot be right that someone protesting against the Government’s decision to proscribe an organisation is automatically interpreted by the Met Police as supporting that organisation and is therefore committing an arrest-able offence. This is especially the case when the proscription is being challenged in the courts. I believe the government and parliament made the wrong decision in proscribing Palestine Action as a terrorist organisation and I continue to call for its deproscription by the government. If the people turning up today to demonstrate against the proscription of Palestine Action are to be arrested for simply turning up, are we all to be criminalised for suggesting the government got this wrong?

Be warned - if the police have reasonable grounds to suspect you might be the sort of person who'd hand a bottle of water to an elderly lady holding a sign - they have the power to order you out of central London today.
A Section 35 dispersal order will be in place in parts of central London from 8am to 11pm today.
This is following information that a group are planning to attend an event and express support for a proscribed organisation, which is an offence under the Terrorism Act.
The order will apply to the area outlined in the below map and means officers can order a person to leave the area or face arrest, where certain conditions apply.
Updates on today's policing operation will be posted on this thread.

Am I allowed to support the brave people who are supporting platercine Acton and oppose genocide? You know this process is crazy.
Anyone planning to attend a demonstration in support of Palestine Action in the vicinity of the US Embassy on Saturday, 31 October will face arrest as part of a robust policing operation.
Expressing support for the group is an offence under the Terrorism Act following its proscription in June 2025, a decision upheld by the Court of Appeal in June 2026.

Matt Alexander was behind a lot of the expensive protest in Nuneaton even though he seem to live in Stoke-on-Trent. The hate he tried to stir up was not helpful for our struggling town centre on Saturdays.

Matt Evans (AKA Matt Alexander), Homeland’s West Midlands organiser, was among the last out the door. The theatrical fascist appears to be gravitating towards PA; he attended both the neo-Nazi group’s demonstration in Tamworth in August and its national conference this month.
