What makes a talk memorable?
1. Tell stories and anecdotes.
2. Use surprise to grab people’s attention.
3. Engage with your audience. Get out from behind your notes.
4. Make your points memorable so the audience can retain them.
5. Speak on the same level as your audience.

The most important detail of any communication is clarity. And how do you accomplish clarity?
1. Decide what issue or information you want to convey and what you want to persuade readers about.
2. Put your material in an order that makes your point clear and substantive.
3. Make everything support your main point.
4. Don’t try to say everything you know about a topic.
5. Don’t introduce a new idea you can’t explain. Readers may follow it away from your point.
6. Read your piece out loud to hear how it sounds.
My counsel to fathers and mothers is to have a kind of family investment spiritually in the lives of your children. But here is the key—that it be regular.
Some people in church love the world more than they love Jesus. It means more to them than Jesus does, and so therefore they sell out.
Don’t let it be you.
There could be people who participate in Christianity in some sense, but have no final anchor. They’re not locked down. And then when the attraction comes, having loved the present world, they leave.
Don’t let it be you.
Every church has its tares, and they show their colors sooner or later.
Don’t let it be you.

How long is eternal life? It’s eternal.
You can’t stop eternal life if somebody’s got it. It’s my conviction somebody that is genuinely regenerate stays regenerate. There are people that look like they’re saved and aren’t.

God made a great place, and we messed it up. The good things that we have are a result of what God did and provided (James 1). But because we have moral freedom, we can choose to do bad, and we’re responsible for it.
Christianity refers to the basic beliefs that the early Christians held to be true as followers of Jesus.
1. God made human beings in his image.
2. Human beings did wrong and became broken.
3. God became a man in Jesus.
4. Jesus accomplished salvation through his death on the cross.
5. Everyone will face a final resurrection and judgment.
We need to know the truth and be able to put it in a way that others understand it. The power is not in quoting verses. The power is in the concepts communicated there.

We can take an interest in our culture by becoming involved citizens who seek not a Christian nation, but rather a just government. As believers, we can also be fully committed in word and deed to seeking the salvation of our fellow citizens, as commanded in Scripture.
Only God can save America. Christians can be used by God, though, to treat the symptoms through positive interaction with culture. They can also play a redemptive role in the lives of others to cure the disease by being faithful to speak the truth of the gospel.
Followers of Jesus face two extremes when it comes to Christianity and politics. Do we aggressively invade culture with political solutions or trust the Spirit to change hearts?

There are certain things that you and I, as followers of Jesus, are extremely dogmatic about. But our dogmatism is justified. We are holding firm to things that we have very good reasons to believe are so, and they matter. Okay? You want to call that stubborn? That’s a pejorative way of putting it, but okay. But being dogmatic and stubborn in a general understanding of the meaning of those terms is only a vice if neither is well justified. I think that married people ought to be real stubborn about not getting a divorce, no matter what happens, because they made a promise not just before man but before God. And so, being stubborn on the right issues is a virtue, not a vice.
