Check out the latest edition of Cotton Farmer magazine. Highlighting the experience of Dr. Ron Smith and a great hire of Dr. Scott Graham at Alabama Extension and Arkansas’ Dr. Gus Lorenz. Looks like an issue to frame.
Thank you everyone for all the nice comments regarding my retirement. But most of all I’m thankful for all of your support and friendship all these years. I tried my best to support our farmers and the Ag industry of AR. I’m retiring but hope to see you around! Stay in touch!

Catching up to 24 adult rice stink bugs per 10 sweeps in some late heading rice this morning. Endigo in the morning. Got 85% control from Endigo on 540 acres last week on farm that was averaging 25% control with Lambda Cy.
EPA had authorized the use of Endigo ZC for Rice Stink Bug in Rice effective today August 13 for 15 days expiring August 27th.
EPA has granted Arkansas a Crisis Exemption for the use of Intrepid in Rice. The Specific Exemption is still under review at EPA but application can be made under the Crisis Exemption until EPA makes a determination on the Specific.
Please update the Effective Date to July 28

Culprit: FAW Fall Armyworm
Threshold: 20% defoliation averaged across the field.
Still not in every field I’ve been. Definitely FAW out there and are targeting multiple crops, yard, pastures, etc. @guslor77

If your bollworms in soybeans disappeared, this may be the reason. Entomopathogenic fungus, Nomuraea rileyi. Before you spray examine the worms. Loopers also seen with fungus and virus. @thrashnbugs @NickBateman

Bollworms in soy ain’t checking up yet. Loopers coming on strong and stink bugs too! Photo courtesy of my friend Jeff. Great time to get out and scout your soybeans! Watch weather closely to determine when to spray.
Bollworms trying hard to feed on 3 gene cotton. This is Phytogen 400. Under intense pressure a little bit of damage but not enough to warrant foliar spray. The 3 gene cotton holding up for now!
Lady beetle nymphs turning to cannibalism when the aphids run out. Between them and the aphid fungus the aphids are declining rapidly in a lot of fields.
