People will look on the years of the early 21st century--when we had modern genetic science but still gave birth to people with non-modified intelligences, let alone people with down syndrome -- as years captured by superstition as aggressive as during the time of Galileo

A norm of "crying it out" while weening is an expected result of the mother/offspring fitness conflict. A norm of "crying it out" during the night exists NOWHERE up until less than 100 years ago
Nobody argues that the Church is uniquely responsible for mass migration, only that it is by far the single most prolific trafficker of migrants and most successful lobby for migrants since it has ever been a problem (they claim both proudly).
But it is incorrect to insinuate that the Church and its network is merely caring for those who show up. Beyond its extensive lobbying for the maximum number of immigrants for nearly a century, we can also note the following:
—Justice for Migrants, an advocacy group established by and for the USCCB, declared for its 2025 World Day of Migrants, during its Migration Week, upon the issuing of Prevost's Jubilee and Homily to Migrants "Pilgrims of Hope", that "as Catholics, we are called by Jesus to accompany migrants at all stages of their journey, from their point of origin, through transit, and to their final destination". If a migrant decides he wants to live in America, the Church believes, and teaches, that Catholics are immediately compelled to assist him in doing so.
—The institutional network of the Church's migrant programs are set up precisely with this in mind. Caritas, ran out of the Palazzo San Callisto in the Vatican, establishes branch offices across the world and instructs each to communicate with one another and between their host nations to achieve this mission. Caritas North America is comprised of 3 organizations, and 2 are the most prolific migrant aid/advocacy orgs in the world: Catholic Charities, and Catholic Relief Services.
—Biden years were happy years for the Church in these efforts. A 2022 FOIA request from Judicial Watch and CatholicVote (of the “trad catholic terrorism FBI manifesto” lawsuit fame), which to date has illegally gone unanswered, points to several anecdotal bits of evidence on how this operation works. It cites an interview with Sister Norma Pimentel of Rio Grande Catholic Charities in which she admits to purchasing plane tickets for undocumented migrants. In another instance, an undocumented family staying in a Dallas hotel told Border Patrol agents that CC Rio Grande was paying for their room, along with *every other room* in that hotel for the purpose of sheltering migrants. Remember Chicago's airports packed with migrants on cots? Catholic Charities was found flying migrants to Chicago and housing them in the airport. In a 1 year span, CC sent over 20,000 illegals on 4,000 unique flights to Chicago.
—Speaking of "making it harder to deport illegals", we should mention CLINIC, established by the Church to carry out its mission in the art of lawfare. It boasts the following: taxpayer-subsidied legal representation for over 500k immigrants annually, representation for illegals in detention and removal, a decade of lawfare against Trump's TPS terminations, and legal victories for migrants against us in JOP v DHS, Seattle v DHS, Sebastiao v Barr, and others.
The notion that the Church is some humble food kitchen needs to die. It is the single most impactful trafficker of migrants in human history and proudly tells us so. When we try to stop them, they tell us of their disapproval.
The days of excusing the Church's heavy hand in one of the most destructive events of modern history are over. Accountability will come for them whether you like it or not.
This was from 2024 before Pope Leo was sworn in. I’ve repeatedly criticized the USCCB. This funding came from government grants and thankfully after federal cuts to refugee programs the USCCB's MRS laid off 50+ workers and cut programs.
The MRS program did not manage Illegal border crossings it handled placement and employment for “legal migrants” which is just as bad but did not pride legal protections for them unlike every other group receiving these grants.
Why don’t you people ever examine policy groups like:
CASA
UnidosUS
RAICES Texas
CHIRLA (Coalition for Humane Immigrant Rights)
Make the Road New York
Immigrant Defenders Law Center
American Immigration Council
National Immigration Law Center (NILC)
Immigrant Legal Resource Center (ILRC)
National Immigrant Justice Center (NIJC)
Asylum Seeker Advocacy Project (ASAP)
These groups genuinely help facilitate illegal immigration and legal advocacy making it harder to carry out deportations. They are led by Hispanics, Arabs, and Jews.

What a beautiful figure! Yellow individuals in this pedigree are of Southern European / Roman ancestry while Blue ones are more Northern European / Germanic ancestry (Green being mixed). It is interesting to see both local and non local individuals of both ancestries

Jebel Irhoud 3 shows a bit of a chin but is a juvenile so it’s hard to tell. Jebel Irhoud 1, Salé, Florisbad, and Eliye Springs were found without mandibles so people resort to arguing about the roundness of the brain case instead
Omo (195kya) is the first definite chin
1. After I posted my critical review of @Anthrofuentes Sex is a Spectrum, a colleague pointed out that his figure of adult heights by sex (bottom panel👇) can't be right: there aren't that many US adults shorter than 4' or taller than 7'
Turns out Fuentes' data are made up 🧵

"Some writers have doubted whether those complex mental attributes, on which genius and talent depend, are inherited.
But he who will study Mr. Galton's able work on 'Hereditary Genius' will have his doubts allayed."

Humans are less dimorphic in size than chimps only if you ignore women's exceptionally high fat mass
And there are definite traits selected in hominins. For ex: >2.5x more forward arm power. Puts says "punching strikes" but applies to club fighting too ;)

In real life when you select for one good thing, you get other good things for free. Nature has made most good things correlate positively genetically.
