🚨HEARTBREAKING: In July 2024, Ahmed Al-Arir, 11, and his 10 year old sister Rasha were pulled alive from beneath the rubble of their bombed home in Gaza.
Less than three months later, both children were killed in an Israeli airstrike on the place where their family had sought refuge after being displaced.
Yesterday, their father, Arafat Al-Arir, was also killed in an Israeli airstrike in Gaza City’s Tal al-Hawa neighbourhood.

🚨 “Why aren’t you arresting them? They’re right here!”
Israeli settlers attacked Palestinian olive pickers and foreign solidarity activists in Kafr Malik, northeast of Ramallah in the occupied West Bank, on Friday, beating and injuring several people. Israeli soldiers arrested one of the activists while leaving the settler assailants untouched.
In footage filmed by Drop Site contributor Mutasem Sqf Elhait, another activist confronts the soldiers while the settlers remain at the scene: “If you’re making arrests, then can you arrest the people who hit him and beat him up? There are videos of everything.”
Jaafar Hamayel, Fatah secretary in Ramallah and al-Bireh, told Drop Site that settlers attacked the harvesters from multiple directions while soldiers protected them. “One Jewish solidarity activist stood in front of them to protect a woman who was picking olives. He was assaulted and injured in his face and mouth, and his teeth were damaged,” he said. “The army should be forcing the settlers to leave, not forcing us off our own land.”
The Palestinian Colonization and Wall Resistance Commission has documented more than 500 settler attacks on the olive harvest across the occupied West Bank since the harvest season began in early October.

Seven-year-old Dana Mohammed Abu Warda miraculously survived the bombing of her family’s home in northern Gaza. However, the aftermath of the attack continues to affect her, as shrapnel remains lodged in her head and various parts of her body requiring urgent medical care.
“My mother was killed, my sister was killed.. and it is my right to receive treatment,” says Dana.
We appeal to international and health organizations for urgent intervention to facilitate her travel for medical treatment.

Yesterday, I received a security notification from Apple warning me that my iPhone had been targeted by a sophisticated mercenary spyware attack, involving technology of the kind developed by companies such as NSO Group, the Israeli firm behind the notorious Pegasus spyware.
Perhaps the most alarming aspect of Apple’s warning was its confirmation that such attacks target specific individuals “because of who you are or what you do.”
This is not the first time I have been targeted by spyware. I was previously targeted with Pegasus in both 2017 and 2021.
I do not yet know who is behind this latest attack, or whether it is connected to my investigative documentary, The Trap, which I directed and co-produced. The film, available on Al Jazeera 360, exposed the details of the September 2024 pager explosions in Lebanon.
What is certain, however, is that the targeting of journalists with sophisticated spyware poses a grave threat to press freedom, the confidentiality of journalistic sources, and the very foundations of independent investigative journalism.
