Here's a skill that turns your app's empty screens into onboarding. Instead of "No projects yet", your agent shows the feature working, as skeleton UI. npx skills add gunaseelan13/skills --skill empty-film-state

13 years ago, Apple asked a question that hits me harder today than ever: If everyone is busy making everything, how can anyone perfect anything? Every day, I see a world flooded with effortless AI slops. I’m realizing that to build something truly great today, you need a level of focus the world has never demanded before. It feels like trying to write a quiet, beautiful song in a room full of loud noise.

more design thinking > faster screens “3 to 4x faster” is the wrong thing to be proud of. If the win is that designers make screens faster, you’ve sped up the part that was never the problem. I don't think moving off Figma makes anyone a better designer. Pointing an LLM at your UI kit just gets you a screen that looks like your product, rendered quicker. The hard part of designing a product isn’t the happy path. It’s knowing your customers and your business. All the research, all the states the product can be in, how it behaves in each one. Our prototypes are code first, so they run on that context in the same code we ship. At @mercury we use the time we get back differently. It goes into exploring more directions, pressure testing them against real customer insights, and iterating on the details until they feel right. That extra time is spent on more revs and it’s how we keep our craft bar as high as it is.
Revolut's designers are moving off Figma. Storonsky spotted one team designing much faster than the others. What they did: 1. Gave an LLM Revolut's design system at the code level 2. Prompted it to build new flows on top of that system 3. Got a live interface they can click through on a laptop or phone, instead of static frames Result: 3-4x faster. Now he's pushing it to every designer at Revolut. His job, as he describes it: find what works in one team and spread it across the company. Full breakdown here: productmarketfit.tech/p/revo…

“designing much faster than the others” — this so daft and makes it clear they don’t understand design at all. “Designing fast” (or slow) is just not a thing. If you conflate “producing ui by piecing together stuff” and “design” then the former (which is a form of assembly-line practice) can surely be fast or slow. What makes the practice of design challenging is not how to put a ui or poster together, it’s what the pieces are, what the message is, what is being communicated, how it all works together. So many of today’s “design” AI tools focus almost exclusively on the production part, on putting stuff together. I’d love to see an AI design tool that forms a deep understanding of a problem over the course of days or months and works like a creative partner. Call me on my bullshit, thinks about the whole, isn’t concerned really about the final arrangement of elements as much as it would understand the story and the message.

I don’t use Figma anymore. For the past six months I’ve been uploading my consciousness directly into the ether and allowing the work to manifest through minor disturbances in the electromagnetic field. You think you are seeing the aurora borealis that's actually my brain waves. It’s a much more intuitive process. I sit completely still in my office until a founder somewhere develops a sudden inspiration for their brand positioning but in reality it was me clipping them in their brain stem, smiling down on them like one of God's children. People keep asking what tools I’m using. I understand the question. I used to think that way too. But asking me what tools I use is like asking a glass of water what software is wetness. Its a meaningless question. I don’t design anymore. I am the pixels. I am the logo. I am the little bit of space between the 'r' and the 'n' that you better make sure is kerned properly. When you increase the font size I experience physical growth. When you cut a vector point, my consciousness goes into quantum superposition. This is where the industry is going. If you're not on board, you're going to get left behind. My entire design system now lives in the collective unconscious. There’s no documentation. Your team will simply wake up knowing the button radius. If someone uses the wrong shade of blue they’ll hear a high pitched ringing sound until they correct it. Developer handoff has been so smooth since I started working this way. My effigy appears at the foot of the engineer’s bed and I open my mouth. The CSS comes out at a frequency only their fillings can receive. We’ve eliminated all meetings. I no longer send clients presentations. I enter their dreams as a white horse with an already complete interactive brand guidelines. They’re free to leave feedback by speaking into a bowl of room temperature water. I receive it immediately and disagree with it on a cellular level. Transcending this outdated material plane is my standing Tuesday meeting. Some people are uncomfortable with this. A procurement manager recently asked whether I could provide an SVG of the logo and I just told her to close her eyes and remember the first time she felt truly understood. She looked annoyed and just said their print vendor needed an SVG by today. A big adjustment has been personal. My wife asked if I could help bring in the groceries. I explained that I now exist simultaneously across every customer touchpoint. I think there’s a lot of fear right now about what happens when designers stop needing tools. But the people who adapt will be fine. You just have to be willing to let go of a few outdated ideas. Like having a body. Being legally distinguishable from a gradient. Anyway I am open for new branding projects this quarter.

Gave my personal site a quick refresh, and added this footer as a place to put up experiments and sketches. Plenty of easter eggs to find; my favorite (and this is a hint) is x-ray mode. Enjoy! joshpuckett.me/

this is the most creative shit i have seen.
Hi, it's Darshita. I am a designer. And I'm pitching myself in public 'cause I'm done with a year full of anxiety. Everyone says design is dead and AI killed it. But the real parasite was hiding in plain sight. So here's my film, DESIGN IS DEAD. She's bold, fearless and very PINK 💖 Hiring? My DMs are open.

Xiaomi Fold > Apple Duo
Xiaomi really cooked with this feature. THIS is how multitasking should be on these wide foldables. I can definitely see Apple doing something similar with the iPhone Fold. Video clip from Vincent Zhong / YouTube

Gemini 3.1 Pro is probably the most accurate model for image-to-Figma-to-code. Even the smallest details are preserved and all of this comes at a much faster speed compared to other models. But this juggling between tools for code is the real bottleneck.

Finally 🙌 have been using a custom plugin to swap multi brand external styles
Excited that Extended Collections for @figma has finally hit the stage. Multi-brand design systems are now a breeze. Stay tuned for the launch next month! We've been using it internally for the last few months to make it easy peasy to switch between our brands.

Or this
Designing in Figma while clients watch has to be the most frustrating thing. Figma should have a privacy mode to disable real-time updates for viewers, while remaining visible to editors. Agree?
