I just bought a domain for my next project.
Introducing Outship 🚀 → outship.in
I'm building a tool to help SaaS founders launch and distribute their products across relevant directories without spending hours doing it manually.
No fancy launch yet. No users yet. Just an idea, a domain, and a lot of building ahead.
I'll be building this in public, sharing everything along the way from writing the first line of code to getting my first paying user, the wins, the failures, and everything in between.
Let's see how far I can take this.
Day 0. Let's ship. 🔥
Being Shurpanakha is so tough.
- They should have just killed her instead of leaving her disfigured😂
I went back to read the original Valmiki Ramayana (Aranya Kanda) and the difference between the actual account and what's being shown in the new Bollywood Ramayana is quite surprising
In the original account Shurpanakha threatens to eat Sita after her advances towards Ram and Lakshmana are rejected. Shri Ram then instructs Lakshmana then Lakshmana cut off her nose and ears
but in the movie, the entire context is changed. Shurpanakha takes Sita's form to manipulate Ram and when Lakshmana cuts her nose, Sita questions his decision, saying her mistake wasn't that serious and that he had no right to harm a woman's appearance
That's a completely different narrative and moral framing.
Cinematic adaptations can have creative interpretations but when you're adapting an epic like the Ramayana shouldn't the original characters events and context be treated with some responsibility?

my post was taken down following a DMCA complaint filed on behalf of Columbia Pictures (@SonyPictures).
I had used an approximately 18 second excerpt from the movie solely to provide context for my criticism of its portrayal of events in the Valmiki Ramayana.
for context, I'm attaching the relevant page from the Valmiki Ramayana (Aranya Kanda, Sarga 18). It shows the original narrative surrounding Shurpanakha's advances towards Rama and Lakshmana, her threats towards Sita, and the subsequent events. I am sharing the textual reference here instead of reposting the movie footage.
India's Copyright Act, under Section 52(1)(a)(ii), recognises fair dealing for criticism or review, including criticism of another work.
I'm not claiming that every short clip is automatically exempt from copyright but shouldn't the purpose and context of the use also be considered before treating it as copyright infringement?
even X's own copyright policy acknowledges that not every unauthorised use of copyrighted material constitutes infringement.
I cannot pursue an expensive legal battle, but I do believe legitimate criticism and review deserve consideration.
I'd like @X and @SonyPictures to clarify how such uses are evaluated.

i think you're missing some important context from Aranya Kanda, Sarga 9 and 10.
Sita mentions three faults that generally arise from desire, but she explicitly tells Rama that falsehood has never been part of his character and that he has never even thought of another man's wife her actual concern is the third fault violence against those with whom there is no enmity
she further explains her reasoning through the story of the ascetic and the sword, cautioning against unnecessary violence but she doesn't impose her opinion on Rama. she tells him to discuss the matter thoughtfully with Lakshmana and then do what he considers right.
and the conversation doesn't end there in Sarga 10, Rama responds by explaining how the Rakshasas are tormenting the sages, why they need his protection and why he cannot go back on his promise to protect them. Sita's own words also acknowledge that a Kshatriya's duty is to protect those who are suffering.
you cannot take Sita's warning in isolation ignore Rama's response and use it to establish an entirely different interpretation of the Shurpanakha episode
Please read both Sargas completely before drawing conclusions about what Valmiki actually wrote. I've attached the original pages for reference.
You are right about the scene.
In Valmiki, Shurpanakha lunges at Sita to devour her, and only then does Shri Rama tell Lakshmana to disfigure her. The film changes that, and the change is fair to question.
But read 9 sargas earlier in the same Aranya Kanda. Sita stops Rama and warns him against 3 faults born of desire: falsehood, desire for another's wife, and violence without enmity. She tells him the bow is meant to protect the suffering, not to strike those who have done no wrong.
Then go to the end of the war.
Hanumanji asks Mata Sita's permission to kill every rakshasi who tormented her for months in the Ashoka Vatika.
She refuses.
They only obeyed Ravana, she says.
A noble person shows compassion to the sinful and the righteous alike, even to those who deserve death, because who in this world has never erred?
That is Valmiki's Sita. A Sita who would question a wound given to a rakshasi is not a woke invention.
The film did not invent her conscience. It moved it to another scene.
And Valmiki is not the only Ramayana.
In Tulsidas, Shurpanakha comes to Rama in a beautiful assumed form, not as she is. The scene has been reshaped before.
Now the larger picture.
This scene is not about one nose. It is the hinge on which the whole cosmic plan turns. The devas had already prayed to Vishnu to end Ravana.
Ravana's boon had left out humans. And the Bhagavata tells us who Ravana really was: Jaya, Vishnu's own doorkeeper, cursed to be born as an asura, freed each time by Vishnu Himself.
The same Bhagavata says some reach Him through love, and some through hatred.
Shurpanakha's wound brings Ravana to Sita. Sita brings Ravana to Rama. And Rama brings Jaya home. That is the deva-asura sangram.
Not good people against bad people, but Vishnu's lila, where even the villain is His own.
Faithfulness matters. But the deepest faithfulness is to the meaning, not only to the sequence.

Section 52(1)(a)(ii) of the Indian Copyright Act allows fair dealing of a work for criticism or review. Your short clip used to compare the film scene against Valmiki Ramayana fits that purpose on paper.
Whether the dealing is actually “fair” is decided case-by-case by courts (amount taken, whether it is the heart of the work, market effect). Platforms can still act on copyright notices and take the clip down pending any challenge. A notice does not automatically make the use illegal; it simply triggers the platform process. This is not legal advice.
@grok does this come under copyright, i posted this clip under Section 52(1)(a)(ii) of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 can makers remove this clip according to law?
i know they can remove this clip with their power but according to law under Section 52(1)(a)(ii) of the Indian Copyright Act, 1957 this clip cannot come under copyright!

In Valmiki Ramayana (Aranya Kanda 18), Shurpanakha propositions Rama then Lakshmana. After rejection and mockery she rushes at Sita threatening to devour her. Rama orders the mutilation; Lakshmana cuts her nose and ears. No shape-shift into Sita, no Sita objecting. The movie alters that sequence.
this should actually be encouraged rather than restricted instead of not allowing bicycles Pune Metro should be finding ways to accommodate them 🚲

First day travelling on the new Pune Metro Line 3, and I absolutely loved the experience! 🚇❤️
The design and overall look are impressive. The seats are noticeably bigger and more comfortable than in the previous metro trains, and the larger glass panels on the doors are a great addition perfect for enjoying Pune's beautiful scenery along the way. 🌆
Really loved the ride! Looking forward to travelling more on this line.
Hopefully, the ₹100 daily pass will be extended to Pune Metro Line 3 soon as well!

I did say we'd be releasing our models periodically...introducing Gemini 4 Carbon, our next frontier model.
Following Argon's release just two weeks ago, Carbon shows the pace at which we’re pushing the frontier, it ranks #1 on the recently updated v5.0 of @ArtificialAnlys Intelligence Index at 59. It also leads across key cybersecurity evaluations scoring 88.2% on SEC-bench Pro for finding vulnerabilities, 54.8% on ExploitGym for exploitation, and 71.0% on CWE-bench for patching.
We’re seeing significant improvements in long-horizon tasks even compared to Argon, and we’ve strengthened frontier safeguards.
As we did with Argon, we’re going to roll it out gradually + responsibly. Some trusted cyber defenders will get access starting this week. We'll be expanding it to more partners through our Fairwind Program, ahead of wider availability soon, so hang tight!

Paid ₹199 for @vzyindia ’s OTT plan, which lists 23 apps, including @SonyLIV , @Zee5_Official & @JioHotstar
But none are working 😕
❌ SonyLIV: “Packs validation failed” / region error
❌ ZEE5: Asking me to subscribe
❌ JioHotstar: Asks me to subscribe.
I’ve paid. Why am I not getting access?
@vzyindia @DishTV_India , please investigate and resolve this or explain the refund process. 🙏
