You know who stops governments breaking the law in a very specific and limited way?
Activist Lawyers.
This is why they’re coming for us.

OK, respect.
That was serious burn time from @afneil. I particularly liked (and chuckled at) the Supreme Court line.
Boris Johnson, you’ve been called out... Can we trust you even to turn up?

This is the scandal caused by RUI (Release Under Investigation):
1. The govt tightened the use of police bail to score cheap headlines
2. Thousands of suspected violent & sex offenders RUI’d with no conditions
3. Underresourced police take years to investigate alleged offences
Replying to @BBCNewsnight @JamesClayton5
More than 93,000 suspected violent criminals and sex offenders have been released without restrictions by police in England and Wales since 2017, figures obtained by #Newsnight show.

🛑Usman Khan was released under a sentencing regime which no longer exists
🛑Johnson’s manifesto says not a single word about current Extended Sentences.
🛑The minor changes he has proposed to automatic release would not have applied to Khan.
Exploitative, dishonest, cynical.
"This guy was out on automatic early release and I have long said that this system simply isn't working."
PM @BorisJohnson says his "immediate takeaway" from the #LondonBridge attack is that people should 'serve the term of their sentence'.

BBC exec: “ it’s wrong to expose lies because it undermines faith in British politics”. Just the opposite is the case. Democracy rests on truth or it dies. Important piece by @OborneTweets
Peter Oborne @OborneTweets voted leave, in fact he was a vocal advocate of Brexit. But he is a vocal #RemainerNow as he sees Brexit cannot work and threatens the Union. Here is his latest article on how the much of the media let politicians lie.

Juncker's "part-time Europeans" comment not right imo.
UK gov was full-time player in EU until 2016, just not always in way Juncker liked.
The real issue is that British public was woefully informed by politicians and media.

Our unelected Prime Minister is suspending Parliament to force through a No Deal Brexit that the Leave campaign leader admits nobody voted for. Johnson & Gove want us to forgot that fact. So we made it visible from Space.(Quote source: Daily Mail 11/3/19)
Indeed, not so simple. What may change: tuition fees, and registration or permit processes. From day one you will be treated as third country citizens. Check with the relevant authorities what you need to do. Don't believe anyone calling others publicly as loons. A bad sign.

Imagine if Remain had won and a minority Labour government was shutting down Parliament to force the UK into the Eurozone, claiming “this is what everyone *really* voted for”. Would Rees-Mogg and his crew of constitutional gangsters be applauding this as “completely proper”?
