.@LawSocPresident: The #RuleOfLaw is not negotiable. This is why I echo the concerns raised today in Parliament by the Justice Select Committee chair. Our commitment to the #RuleOfLaw is key to attracting international business to the UK & maintaining faith in our justice system

You know who stops governments breaking the law in a very specific and limited way? Activist Lawyers. This is why they’re coming for us.

We condemn a Home Office video referring to immigration lawyers who provide legal advice to migrants as ‘activist lawyers’. Solicitors advise their clients on *their rights under the laws created by parliament* lawsociety.org.uk/contact-or…

OK, respect. That was serious burn time from @afneil. I particularly liked (and chuckled at) the Supreme Court line. Boris Johnson, you’ve been called out... Can we trust you even to turn up?

This is the scandal caused by RUI (Release Under Investigation): 1. The govt tightened the use of police bail to score cheap headlines 2. Thousands of suspected violent & sex offenders RUI’d with no conditions 3. Underresourced police take years to investigate alleged offences
More than 93,000 suspected violent criminals and sex offenders have been released without restrictions by police in England and Wales since 2017, figures obtained by #Newsnight show. bbc.co.uk/news/uk-50563533

🛑Usman Khan was released under a sentencing regime which no longer exists 🛑Johnson’s manifesto says not a single word about current Extended Sentences. 🛑The minor changes he has proposed to automatic release would not have applied to Khan. Exploitative, dishonest, cynical.
"This guy was out on automatic early release and I have long said that this system simply isn't working." PM @BorisJohnson says his "immediate takeaway" from the #LondonBridge attack is that people should 'serve the term of their sentence'. Read more: po.st/Jc80NY

Juncker's "part-time Europeans" comment not right imo. UK gov was full-time player in EU until 2016, just not always in way Juncker liked. The real issue is that British public was woefully informed by politicians and media.

Our unelected Prime Minister is suspending Parliament to force through a No Deal Brexit that the Leave campaign leader admits nobody voted for. Johnson & Gove want us to forgot that fact. So we made it visible from Space.(Quote source: Daily Mail 11/3/19)

Imagine if Remain had won and a minority Labour government was shutting down Parliament to force the UK into the Eurozone, claiming “this is what everyone *really* voted for”. Would Rees-Mogg and his crew of constitutional gangsters be applauding this as “completely proper”?

British workers travelling to EU will be unable to carry out basic business tasks after #NoDealBrexit unless they navigate complex web of work permits that could take weeks, even months to obtain. This is utter madness! ft.com/content/67cc4700-b917… via @financialtimes

Most U.K. media - and now all of the government - still talk about the EU as though it is somehow our enemy. European media & politicians mostly look at us with affectionate pity, frustration & confusion. Our country had picked a fight with a figment of its own imagination.

The government destroyed the legal aid system to save barely £1bn. The most vulnerable among us were cast adrift at the lowest points in their lives - homeless, sick and disabled, unemployed, victims of crime, those falsely accused of crime. But behold the magic money tree. 🌲💰
We’ve announced £2.1bn to prepare for No Deal. Funding will accelerate preparations at the border, support business readiness and ensure the supply of critical medicines. Read more: gov.uk/government/news/chanc…

Highly misleading comments from the Home Secretary about EU free movement here. "Right of entry with or without work" and "fill jobs rather than claiming benefits" gives the false impression that an unemployed EU citizen can show up and claim UK benefits.
Priti Patel - "There is no dispute about the positive impact of immigration on our country" - End FoM; more open to skills from around world. (Job offers, speaking English, work not benefits) - Expect more from employers on domestic skills - MAC to review Aus system asap.
