The goal cost what it cost. Either pay the price or stop pretending you really want it.

Coaching….
1. Do no harm.
2. Coach the athlete in front of you.
#1 - don’t do stupid $h!t
#2 - research is cool, but should not drive most decisions.

800m data nerd!
Collected splits for every sub 1:42 race from 1981-2026 to see what the data tells us (see thread).
Rudisha’s 1:41.33 from 2011 was the only one I couldn’t get 200/400 splits for 😤

This man could not be more disingenuous about the presence of boosters in CFB
NEW: Nick Saban on NIL and boosters causing more head coach firings in College Football:
"The cause and effect of paying players is we’re raising money from alumni who now think they should have a say in what happens, and that’s why 33 coaches got fired last year."

I think football players should only do off season 7 on 7 tournaments in trainers...no cleats!!!
They just can't handle it....the stress!
...see how dumb that sounds?!
It's okay to spike up for sprint sessions early in the season.
I’ve gotten a fair amount of messages asking if we test in spikes. Like what?! Who tests in flats? What's the point?

Mike Rogers is a corporate sellout who moves back to Michigan every few years to run for office to take another swing at the revolving door of corporate politics.

Pope Leo XIV on AI:
The Tower of Babel represents a unity imposed through domination. At the same time, this edifice reveals that the more power seeks to oppress, the more it weakens itself, exposing its inhumane face. We see this in the suffering and injustice caused by despotism, as well as in forms of exploitation that damage both society and the environment. Today the temptation of Babel reappears in a globalization pursued without fraternity in rapacious forms of neocolonialism, in ideological impositions, and in all those contexts without bonds that reduce human life to commerce. Science itself, when reduced to a technique of power, no longer serves to elevate the human person but instead risks degrading the fruits of human endeavor.

Stop Repackaging Old Ideas!
Renaming drills and exercises and adding a dash of current scientific terminology is just clickbait.
Find a way to stand on the shoulders of giants, not just cut the line for attention.
Old is gold, as often much of it is just great thinking.

I love so many things about cross country. Here's one.
Cross country grows a young learner's attention span for hard work.
The sport introduces them to their current limits, then workouts and long runs and races provide a chance to stretch these limits.
What a gift.

talking about it and shilling for it — without disclosing that the company is literally lobbying for it — are vastly different things.

The longer I coach, the more I realize that the secret to being a great coach isn't designing cutting edge training, it's the ability to repeatedly and consistently avoid doing dumb stuff.

Remember that those who celebrate John Brown are celebrating the man who attempted to lead a servile insurrection that was murdered hundreds of thousands of women and children, and who began his career by butchering a defenseless unarmed family just for the crime of existing in Kansas
There is nothing, whatsoever, that is it all redeeming about John Brown
No man was ever more justly hanged
