It's easy to forget how much the Senate naturally favors Republicans. For Democrats to win the Senate this year, they needed to count on victories in places like Texas, Iowa, and Alaska.
Few people thought that this was possible a year ago, even with a midterms backlash against the incumbent party. But now, states that are normally swing states, Georgia and North Carolina, aren't even competitive. We're talking about Kansas instead.
Really a testament to how much the Trump administration has screwed up.

Quite the closing argument for Netanyahu to acknowledge his legacy is the end of US military aid and his re-election would mean sanctions, isolation and reliance on cryptocurrency. No illusions about opposition but they would at least try to avoid this future.

This is strange. I was told the foreign countries pay the tariffs, so why would this help in the election?

The Atlantic: “Median household income for Indian Americans is $151,200, compared with $92,530 for white Americans. About three-quarters of Indian adults 25 and older in the U.S. hold a bachelor’s degree, against a national average of 38 percent. Nearly half have graduate degrees, and the poverty rate, 6 percent, is among the lowest of any ethnic group. Indian Americans tend to be employed and law-abiding.”
Rightoids will tell you this is all a conspiracy theory, that Indians have no talent, that their success is a fraud.
They've adopted the ideology of the lowest black race hustlers.

Good afternoon, especially to Indian Americans with 750+ on the Math SAT and/or strongly productive jobs in the tech sector!
Thank you for your contributions to the US, especially as measured by your deservedly high market incomes! 🫡🇺🇸🕉️

Could Vivek Ramaswamy publicly celebrate a Hindu festival and hope to be accepted by MAGA? I think we all know the answer.
This week, I was blessed to join Hindu New Yorkers in Queens celebrating Navratri, Durga Puja, Dashain, and Vijayadashami.
We danced garba, performed aarti, witnessed Sindoor Khela, and honored the Goddess Durga.
It was an honor to come together in joy, faith, and community in temples across our city — especially after the attempted mass shooting at a Hindu temple in Illinois last week.
May we all join together in our shared responsibility to stand against hate and care for one another.
Jai Mata Ki.

Not in my worst imaginings did I think that one day we would have a POTUS who, in the face of scenes like this, would say that Russia had "behaved adequately" towards Ukraine
A horrific Russian strike in the Kharkiv region. A “shahed” struck people directly – in a park near an ordinary café. Pure atrocity. Six people were killed, including children. A little girl was killed in a stroller – her name was Angelina, she was just over a year old, born in August 2025… Her mother’s name was Inna. She died in the hospital… Another girl who was killed was 11 years old. My condolences to their families and loved ones. Another 14 people were injured, including six more children.
I am grateful to everyone who supports Ukraine under these circumstances and helps us shoot down “shaheds,” shoot down missiles, and stop Russian assaults. These are horrific photos, but behind them are shattered lives and the truth about this war. Lives must be protected. Ukraine needs air defense. You can't think about making money with Russia as long as it continues its asinine war. We ask that sanctions on Russia stay in place as long as the killings continue. We ask America to be strong, and we ask it to apply the Lindsey Graham law. We ask Europe to continue its support. We ask that everything possible be done to bring peace and guarantee security. Ukraine wants peace. It is Russia that has insisted on continuing the killing all this time. The world has enough strength to stop the war. That strength must finally be used – against the murderers.

Just one of Christiane’s many powerful and memorable moments: refusing to give in to Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi’s demand that she wear a headscarf for an interview in NYC. She showed up; he didn’t.

Too clever by half. He correctly notes that Ukraine cannot give up its fortress belt because that'd give the Russians a "straight shot into Kyiv." Yet he insists the war is just about 11% of territory. No, the lie is in his explanation: Putin wants the 11% at the negotiating table because he cannot take it on the battlefield; and he wants it because it gives him another opportunity to make a play for Kyiv at a later date. The Russians don't want to end the war, they want the U.S. to create the more amenable conditions for the continuation of the war in future. The tragedy of Rubio is that he's in better command of the facts than anyone else in this administration but he nonetheless ends up acting a mouthpiece for policies he knows are wrong.

With all due respect to the US President, the chances for Israel’s destruction are rising in a scenario Netanyahu gets elected again.
I’ve never been sure of anything as I’m sure in that.
The internal rupture in Israel will widen. Israel’s isolation will expand to more countries sanctioning us.
Iran and our enemies will see a divided, sanctioned, weaker Israel, and all of that will happen because of our corrupt PM and his thirst for power

There are certain decisions that will go down as history-defining moments. This is one of them. It's a terrible misjudgment of Putin, who has made it clear he wants to destroy the West. We shouldn't help him do it.

A key reason capitalism isn’t more popular is that it’s unintuitive and hard to understand.
The reason it’s nevertheless the prevailing economic system (though imperfectly implemented) is that it’s so effective.

Ten years of ping-pong between the Trump and Biden versions of economic populism have left voters angrier than ever — maybe it’s time to try Ideas That Actually Achieve The Desired Goals.
Me in the NYT: If the cost of living is voters' number one concern maybe it's time to bring the 1990s-style policies (none dare call it neoliberalism) — progressive deficit reduction, free trade, regulatory reform — that would actually fix it.

Talarico questioned by a voter about the comments on God’s gender.
Talarico admits he was annoying. He’s charming and makes good points. He mentions that Charlie Kirk also said God is beyond gender.
No wonder he’s doing so well.
A great candidate.
People on the far left, who themselves are addicted to endless smartphone screen time and short video consumption, then defending screen time out of a political praxis will always be funny.
Everyone blames screens for the decline of reading.
Nobody blames the consolidated corporate publishing industry that made books pricier, more generic, and harder to find. jacobin.com/2026/10/books-pu…
