INFRASTRUCTURE IS THE KEY TO UNLOCKING AFRICA’S MASSIVE AGRICULTURAL POTENTIAL Africa possesses enormous agricultural potential, yet much of it remains underutilized. The continent has vast arable land, a young and growing population, diverse agro-ecological zones, abundant sunshine and water resources, and expanding domestic and international food markets. The challenge is not simply a lack of land or farmers. Africa needs the infrastructure, technology, investment, mechanization, efficient markets and value-addition systems required to transform agriculture from predominantly subsistence production into a globally competitive commercial industry. MECHANIZED AGRICULTURE MUST BECOME A STRATEGIC PRIORITY African governments, development institutions and private investors should make mechanized, technology-driven and climate-smart agriculture a central pillar of Africa’s economic transformation. This means investing in: 1. Farm mechanization and modern agricultural equipment; 2. Irrigation, water harvesting and climate-resilient systems; 3. Rural roads and agricultural transport networks; 4. Reliable energy for farms and agro-processing; 5. Storage, cold chains and agro-processing facilities; 6. Digital agriculture, data and precision farming; 7. Affordable agricultural finance and investment; 8. Regional markets, exports and cross-border trade; 9. Farmer training, cooperatives and entrepreneurship; and 10. Integrated value chains that connect farmers to markets Africa must move beyond exporting predominantly raw agricultural commodities and capture more value through processing, manufacturing, branding and regional trade. KEHOSA REGENERATIVE ORGANIC AGRICULTURE FARMERS COOPERATIVE SOCIETY- FARMERS HUB AND NERVE CENTRE ADVANCING AFRICA’S FOOD SOVEREIGNTY @KEHOSAFARMERS, under @TheClimateFund, is taking the lead in advancing Africa’s Agrarian Food Sovereignty Revolution, guided by regenerative organic agriculture and permaculture principles. The objective is clear: build productive, resilient and sustainable agricultural systems that strengthen food sovereignty, rural livelihoods, environmental restoration and economic prosperity. Africa does not lack potential. Africa needs infrastructure, investment, innovation and decisive action to unlock it. This is our guiding principles: 1. From subsistence to commercial agriculture; 2. From raw commodities to value addition; 3. From food insecurity to food sovereignty; and 4. From aid dependency to agricultural prosperity. Africa’s agricultural transformation must begin now. Thank you, @TheAOFoundation About Kehosa Regenerative Organic Agriculture Center The Kehosa Regenerative Organic Agriculture Center (KROAC) is an agricultural and environmental initiative under the broader KEHOSA INVESTMENTS vision. Its purpose is to help transform African agriculture from input-intensive, low-productivity systems toward regenerative, climate-resilient, productive and economically viable farming. KEHOSA has been engaging more than 100,000 smallholder farmers across Kenya since 2020 under Kehosa Regenerative Organic Farmers Cooperative Society. Kehosa Regenerative Organic Farmers Cooperative Society A farmer-owned platform for regenerative agriculture, food sovereignty, climate resilience and rural prosperity. Core objectives could include: Organizing smallholder farmers into economically stronger cooperatives. Promoting regenerative and organic farming practices. Restoring soil fertility, biodiversity and watersheds. Improving food security and household nutrition. Establishing collective purchasing of seeds, equipment, organic inputs and machinery. Developing aggregation, storage, processing and value-addition facilities. Creating reliable domestic and export markets for members. Promoting agroforestry, permaculture and climate-smart agriculture. Mobilizing agricultural finance, grants, technology and FDI. Building farmer-owned enterprises and rural employment.

"World-class infrastructure attracts Foreign Direct Investment (FDI). China, Germany and the United States demonstrate how reliable transport, energy, digital connectivity, logistics, utilities, and industrial infrastructure enhance competitiveness and give investors confidence to commit long-term capital. For Africa, modern or state-of-the art infrastructure is a strategic investment—not an expense. It lowers the cost of doing business, expands market access, raises productivity, strengthens trade, boots agribusiness, lowers cost of doing business, creates jobs and creates the conditions to attract and retain FDI". 𝐒𝐇𝐀𝐏𝐈𝐍𝐆 𝐊𝐄𝐍𝐘𝐀 𝐁𝐄𝐘𝐎𝐍𝐃 𝐕𝐈𝐒𝐈𝐎𝐍 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 🇰🇪 Today, we begin an important national conversation about 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 — an opportunity to imagine the country we want to build for ourselves, our children and generations to come. Launched in 2008, 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐕𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟑𝟎 —set out an ambitious aspiration: to transform Kenya into a 𝐧𝐞𝐰𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐝𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐫𝐢𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐧𝐠, 𝐦𝐢𝐝𝐝𝐥𝐞-𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐜𝐨𝐮𝐧𝐭𝐫𝐲 𝐩𝐫𝐨𝐯𝐢𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚 𝐡𝐢𝐠𝐡 𝐪𝐮𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲 𝐨𝐟 𝐥𝐢𝐟𝐞 𝐭𝐨 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐜𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐳𝐞𝐧𝐬 𝐢𝐧 𝐚 𝐜𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐧 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐬𝐞𝐜𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐞𝐧𝐯𝐢𝐫𝐨𝐧𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭. It was anchored on three pillars — 𝐄𝐜𝐨𝐧𝐨𝐦𝐢𝐜, 𝐒𝐨𝐜𝐢𝐚𝐥 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐏𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐢𝐜𝐚𝐥— supported by key foundations including infrastructure, science, technology and innovation, human capital, security and institutional reforms. Through successive five-year Medium-Term Plans, this vision has guided national development across different administrations. For me, Vision 2030 also carries a special personal meaning. I had the privilege of spending 𝐞𝐢𝐠𝐡𝐭 𝐲𝐞𝐚𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐨𝐧 𝐊𝐨𝐧𝐳𝐚 𝐓𝐞𝐜𝐡𝐧𝐨𝐩𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐬, one of its flagship projects. I witnessed an ambitious idea on paper progressively take shape into a technology and innovation ecosystem — a powerful reminder that 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝 𝐧𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐚𝐥 𝐯𝐢𝐬𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬, 𝐛𝐚𝐜𝐤𝐞𝐝 𝐛𝐲 𝐬𝐮𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐢𝐧𝐞𝐝 𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐞𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧, 𝐜𝐚𝐧 𝐛𝐞𝐜𝐨𝐦𝐞 𝐫𝐞𝐚𝐥𝐢𝐭𝐲. As 2030 approaches, our responsibility is now to look further ahead. 𝐖𝐡𝐚𝐭 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚 𝐝𝐨 𝐰𝐞 𝐰𝐚𝐧𝐭 𝐭𝐨 𝐬𝐞𝐞 𝐢𝐧 𝟐𝟎𝟔𝟎 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐞𝐲𝐨𝐧𝐝? We have an opportunity to envision a Kenya that is globally competitive; powered by technology, innovation and knowledge; industrialised and export-oriented; food and energy secure; connected by world-class infrastructure; creating opportunities for every young Kenyan; and providing a high quality of life for all. This conversation must belong to 𝐚𝐥𝐥 𝐊𝐞𝐧𝐲𝐚𝐧𝐬 — our youth, professionals, farmers, entrepreneurs, academia, private sector, communities and leaders. We must think beyond today’s challenges and electoral cycles and ask what decisions and investments we must make today to transform Kenya over the next generation. 𝐓𝐡𝐞 𝐟𝐮𝐭𝐮𝐫𝐞 𝐢𝐬 𝐧𝐨𝐭 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐬𝐢𝐦𝐩𝐥𝐲 𝐢𝐧𝐡𝐞𝐫𝐢𝐭; 𝐢𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐬𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐭𝐡𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐰𝐞 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝. May we use this opportunity to shape a nation we will be proud of — and one in which future generations will look back with pride at the contribution our generation made. 𝐎𝐮𝐫 𝐦𝐨𝐦𝐞𝐧𝐭 𝐢𝐬 𝐭𝐨 𝐢𝐦𝐚𝐠𝐢𝐧𝐞 𝐛𝐨𝐥𝐝𝐥𝐲, 𝐩𝐥𝐚𝐧 𝐝𝐞𝐥𝐢𝐛𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐞𝐥𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐛𝐮𝐢𝐥𝐝 𝐟𝐨𝐫 𝐠𝐞𝐧𝐞𝐫𝐚𝐭𝐢𝐨𝐧𝐬. #BeyondVision2030 #Kenya2060 #Vision2030 #KenyaRising #Transformation #Innovation – at Nairobi, Kenya
