Those people pushing the "lab-made gold" fantasy are wildly ignorant of both physics and economics. And their comparison of lab-made diamonds is a failed comparison for a simple reason: Gold is an ELEMENT. Diamonds are just rearranged CARBON (diamonds are molecules, not an element).
Making elements is far more difficult than rearranging carbon atoms.
The inputs needed to make "lab-made gold" are wildly expensive mercury 198 + deuterium + tritium + lots of power, run through a facility that doesn't exist and would require billions of dollars to build. The mercury input alone is far above the value of the gold produced.
mercury-198 + neutron → mercury-197 + two neutrons → gold-197
Mercury-198 is currently priced at over $14,000 per mg. That's over $450 million per ounce. Even if you can turn that into pure gold, you have just created the world's most expensive gold at $450 million per ounce.
If you want gold at $450 million per ounce, I've got lots of ounces to sell you right now. Just wire to my account and I'll get you all the gold ounces you want!
Adding even more fun to the matter, the gold comes out with RADIOACTIVE trace elements blended in. So you're not creating usable gold, you're creating essentially dirty bomb material. It wouldn't even be legal to sell such gold for at least 18 years, to allow the half life of radioisotopes to fall to acceptable levels.
The company claiming this breakthrough has not conducted a demonstration and has not published anything quantifying yield, purity, recovery efficiency, energy consumption, production cost, or anything else.
Idiots all over social media think $450 million per ounce of gold will crash gold prices to zero. Somehow. They obviously can't do basic math. It's FAR CHEAPER to dig gold out of the ground, which is exactly what gold mining has been doing for centuries.
Your gold assets are perfectly safe. Protected by the laws of physics and the cosmic scarcity of the gold element, which was created in exploding stars via FUSION.

PETER SCHIFF: THE NEXT FINANCIAL CRISIS COULD HIT BEFORE THE AI BOOM EVEN PAYS OFF
I spoke with Peter about something that's been bothering me: oil is soaring, borrowing costs are climbing, and yet markets seem remarkably comfortable with the risks.
He thinks investors are missing the bigger danger.
AI companies are borrowing enormous sums to build data centers, with no guarantee the profits will arrive in time to repay the debt.
Meanwhile, governments are competing for the same capital, inflation is rising, and higher interest rates are putting pressure on banks and homeowners.
He believes the housing market could be the first major casualty, with losses spreading through the financial system.
And another escalation with Iran would only add to the pressure.
His warning is that we could face a sovereign debt crisis before anyone finds out whether the AI boom was worth the money.

yup
why gold going down should scare the living daylights out of any stock bull, if they understood the full context of the situation
Gold falling from $5400 to $4000 in our present setup is NOT a bullish sign for anything related to the economy or markets.

🚨 THE FIRST AI BUBBLE HAS BURST.
China's STAR50 index, which tracks the country's biggest AI and chip companies, has crashed 40% in less than four months.
That has wiped out about $480 billion in market value.
The damage has spread across the whole market.
China's main CSI 300 index is now in a bear market, down 20% from its June high, and Chinese stocks have lost $3.5 trillion in total value since their May peak.
China's two listed AI model companies, MiniMax and Zhipu, have lost a combined $150 billion from their highs.
Robot maker Unitree crashed 50% since its August listing, and optical parts makers Zhongji Innolight and Eoptolink are down about 60%.
The warning signs were already there.
At the peak, the STAR50 traded at almost 250 times earnings.
AI stocks made up 42% of China's entire stock market and 57% of all trading, mostly driven by retail investors.
Now look at the US.
AI-linked stocks make up 49% of the S&P 500's value, according to JPMorgan.
That's even higher than China's 42% before its crash.
The S&P 500's Shiller P/E ratio is above 40, the second highest in over 150 years.
The only time it was higher was right before the dot-com crash.
Margin debt, the money investors borrow to buy stocks, has hit a record $1.5 trillion.
And Anthropic just filed for an IPO that could value it at $2 trillion, after losing $80.7 billion in the first half of this year.
The US is now flashing the same warning signs China did before its AI stocks crashed.

Apple still struggling to create a foldable heading into 2027
🇺🇸 Apple's first foldable iPhone is folding... just not in the way anyone hoped.
iPhone Duo owners are posting pictures of cracked screens all over Reddit, some just HOURS after unboxing. And the damage keeps showing up in the exact same spot.
Now a YouTuber thinks he's found out why.
He cracked his own Duo during a durability test, ripped it apart, and found a tiny link in the hinge had snapped right at its weakest point.
That little piece of metal may be behind a very expensive headache for Apple's newest gadget.
