Many have wondered why the baby elephant recently rescued in Bagdogra, West Bengal, was rubbed with mud before being reunited with her mother. Forest teams may use mud mixed with elephant dung to help mask human scent picked up during handling and facilitate acceptance by the mother and herd. This practice is supported by the Field Manual for Managing Human-Elephant Conflict by Project Elephant, Wildlife Institute of India and WWF-India, while Tamil Nadu's 2023 SOP on Orphaned Elephant Calf Management also recommends using dung from the calf or herd and avoiding unfamiliar scents. Behind a heartwarming reunion lies well tested field knowledge and scientific evidence 👍 #elephants #wildliferescue

Horrific CCTV footage is circulating from Kolkata. The heartless and ruthless perpetrator reportedly is apparently some Prakash Bachawat and the victim is some Dipika Jain, or names to that effect. @KolkataPolice, please verify the footage, investigate this alleged criminal behaviour, and take strict action in accordance with the law. @SuvenduWB @BJP4Bengal @KPDetectiveDept

‘No concrete evidence’
Dr Kumar explains that mobile phones emit radiofrequency (RF) radiation, a type of non-ionising radiation. Unlike the ionising radiation of X-rays, which can damage DNA and potentially lead to cancer, non-ionising radiation’s potential to cause tumours is unproven.
There is no conclusive evidence to prove that mobile phone usage can cause brain cancer.
“Multiple studies have been done. They have looked at both benign tumours, like meningiomas, and also cancerous tumours, like gliomas. Post studies, it showed that there is no evidence. A few studies have shown a slight increase of cancer risk but researchers concluded that they couldn’t give a convincing conclusion that it is due to mobile phone usage,” he adds.

I can clearly sense the fear on Salman Khan’s face, and honestly, that’s understandable.
No matter what happened in the past, it may be wiser to put pride aside and seek a peaceful resolution, including offering an apology to bishnoi community if that’s what helps de-escalate the situation.
The Sidhu Moosewala case was a tragic reminder of how dangerous these situations can become. As my father always says, “A criminal has very little to lose, but you have everything to lose.” It only takes someone willing to act for a small amount of money to cause irreversible damage.
At the end of the day, no ego is worth risking your life over. Staying safe and avoiding further escalation should always come first.
