The Romford MP has been Andrew Rosindell since 2001. He joined Reform earlier this year, and Havering council went to a Reform majority in the local elections, most of the Reform councillors having been Tories before, like Rosindell. I've asked several of them if they will do anything to stop this mosque and some make vaguely disapproving noises or treat it as though it just won't happen regardless of their own input. I strongly suspect they are hoping to wave it through while somehow claiming they couldn't do anything about it. They're Tories at heart so that's their default. However, they do have to consider public opinion, and when Gavin and I held a meeting earlier this year, the people who will have to live near this (I'm at the other end of town) were clearly appalled and absolutely dreading it. Even lefty friends of mine immediately started looking for other places to move to as soon as they heard about it.
We shouldn't have to suffer this nor move out of our homes. The mosque should simply be cancelled and the Muslims should return to their homelands. Please give us a hand in defeating this and giving our enemies another big problem.
MOSQUE APPLICATION – ROMFORD ROUND 2
Thanks to your help, I'm fighting this planning application to create a "mosque and cultural centre" at the former Page Calnan building in Romford (222-226 South Street).
I want to have another go at it, because the decision was due in March and it's still undecided.
I want the Council to know that time passing doesn't mean opposition has died down.

It would be a big, unpleasant forward base in Romford, and we need to keep the pressure up.
I'm asking for another £2000, to pay out of pocket expenses to resist it.
I'll understand if people can't donate a second time, and I might be able to make up some of the shortfall from saved funds. But I will appreciate help with it, if you can.
As usual, none of the money goes to me but on the costs of fighting this application.

Andrew Rosindell somehow has the reputation of a 'right-wing' Tory. In reality, he says things like this:

Romford was English except for a few Indian and Chinese restaurants and a tiny number of black people who sounded like they were from round here. In about 2016, perhaps as retribution for Havering being the most pro-Leave London Borough in the EU referendum, someone suddenly moved in thousands of blacks from somewhere, and then in about 2019/2020 a deluge of Muslims from all over the world started streaming in literally straight from the ports and airports, some emerging from the train station and asking for directions to the Town Hall or Citizens Advice. Many speak no English at all. There are loads of Chinese here too now, perhaps Hong Kongers. We are also blessed with gypsies and Irish travellers who are free to openly live off crime. Romford was never a pretty place and had problems before, but now it has all that and the third world.

APPLICATION TO TURN A VICTORIAN TERRACED BUILDING INTO A MOSQUE IN KILBURN
A planning application has been submitted to extend and convert the ground floor of 28 Willesden Lane, NW6 7ST for use by Kilburn & Hampstead Masjid. This is a lovely old Victorian three-storey commercial and residential terraced building.
The current mosque typically opens at 6am-8pm (10pm during summer) and accommodates 30-40 attendees a day. These numbers might increase significantly at this proposed, extended property.
This site is in an established residential neighbourhood, with no dedicated on-site parking. Local residents have objected to a planning application for a mosque nearby which also has no on-site parking, citing issues around congested streets and “roads coming to a virtual standstill on Friday’s.”
I am asking you for donations toward out of pocket expenses of £2,000 to resist this application.
