A society can become safer and still leave its citizens worse off. In "Worth the Risk", economist @AllisonSchrager examines how the fear of failure reshapes our ambitions, from the businesses we never start to the lives we never dare to build. Join her and host @HalderAlaka for a conversation about the myths that make caution look like wisdom. interintellect.com/salons/wo…

In "Women in Love", D. H. Lawrence gives us characters who would rather wage war on one another than settle for an ordinary life. Their romances become battlegrounds for competing visions of freedom, power, and what two independent souls can possibly owe each other. Join Interintellect CEO @TheAnnaGat for an online book club on a novel that remains startling in its refusal to make human relationships easily resolved. interintellect.com/salons/dh…

In this enlightening SuperSalon, @fortelabs and @visakanv explored how transformational ideas have evolved. While the packaging is more modern and tech-friendly today, the core pursuit--empowerment, agency, and facing your fears--remains timeless.

Political power is built through ambition, proximity, and an instinct for opportunity, but history has its own timing, and even the most carefully constructed ascent can be undone by forces beyond one’s control. Join professor @fstflofscholars for the next chapter on the discussion of Robert Caro’s "The Path to Power", where Lyndon Johnson’s political fortunes take an unexpected turn. interintellect.com/salons/pa…

IN 3 DAYS.💫 A career gives structure to our days and often decides where our energy goes. When that structure falls away, a more personal question takes its place: what do we want our time to amount to, and who else might it serve? Join @DaleYuzuki for a conversation about the freedom, uncertainty, and quiet responsibility of deciding what comes next after full-time work. interintellect.com/salons/wh…

Whatever happens in the world, there is already a great book about it 😌 #YouCanSeeEverything
An underrated book that's very relevant. Caused some scandals in its time: Stefan Heym imagines the Book of David as an authorized document(ary) commissioned by King Solomon. Not Nathan, but Ethan the Scribe is hired to be embedded at the Palace, interview people, write. Officially Ethan can write anything -- but of course the King hopes for some results, manipulates, pressures. Poor Ethan. Sometimes aware, sometimes oblivious, he goes and pokes, explores, and uncovers a lot of wild details. People say weird things to him. Misdirections. Contradictions. Laughable attempts to evade him. The prophet Samuel seems to have been on drugs?? Lots of hashish around... Were Saul and David lovers ("he healed him, but not with his lyre")? -- by Jove, can it be that all these people are just like us? And why does everybody seem to be lying...? And how can real love still develop and inspire The Song of Songs?? I enjoyed this book a lot. Very fun. Often think about it. Recommended.

JUST LISTED.📅 If you grew up watching Spielberg, "E.T." probably takes you back to a very particular kind of childhood. Bikes flying across the sky, adults who never quite understood, and an alien who needed a friend as much as a way home.👽🚲 Join @TheAnnaGat for a conversation about Spielberg, the movies we grew up with, and why "E.T. the Extra-Terrestrial" still feels like something worth revisiting. interintellect.com/salons/a-…

What a remarkable Supersalon we had with @lea_ypi and Irina Dumitrescu, exploring "Indignity: A Life Reimagined" and the tangled relationship between family memory, historical truth, and political history. From secret service archives to the intimate stories that shape our understanding of the past, we reflected on the dignity of those who came before us and the responsibility of telling their stories. Thank you to Lea, Irina, and everyone who joined us for this memorable evening.📚️❤️

In our SuperSalon, host DJ Scruggs sat down with political writer @lindsey_brink to break down why our society feels stuck. While 20 to 30 percent of people get intellectually challenging jobs with real autonomy and intrinsic rewards, most face a daily grind of stress and precarity that blocks personal growth and genuine connection.

We once worried that technology would isolate us. Now it offers to listen, reassure us, and tell us exactly what we want to hear. MIT professor @STurkle has spent more than 40 years studying our relationships with machines. In this SuperSalon, she joins host @weschow to explore the strange new territory of AI companionship, where the performance of intimacy meets the messiness of being human. interintellect.com/salons/ar…
