For the top 98-99% of people in a country, the US is a better place to be. The average American in poverty has higher consumption than the median European. American education, for all its problems, is better than European education. You basically have to be a criminal, a Muslim fanatic, or someone who refuses to find a job to be better off in Europe.

I’m a member of the NY bar and holding yourself out as an attorney when you’re not is a misdemeanor. I don’t think the lawyer/attorney distinction cuts it. You can advertise your JD, but you’re either admitted to the bar or you’re not.

In the wake of "lawyer v. attorney" kerfuffle, I learned folks feel very strongly about people claiming to be an attorney/lawyer if not able to practice law. I also learned that commentator Elie Mystal (who self-describes as an attorney) never got admitted in NY. It's the same
