I spoke to Reuters about our Seventh Circuit appeal on behalf of drivers trapped in gridlock by pro-Hamas protestors who blockaded the entrance to O’Hare Airport for hours. Argument scheduled for April 9.
📰HLLI in the News
@JgreeneJenna of @Reuters covered our lawsuit on behalf of drivers who were trapped in their vehicles for hours after anti-Israel activists blocked access to O’Hare International Airport.

In Zucman's world, if you wave your hands and say something is one-off, people won't adapt their behaviour. "Rational expectations!"
This has curious implications. If it's rational to do the tax once, by symmetry, it's rational to do it again.
A second, "one-off" surprise.
🧵
This Hoover Institution study, which has fueled the deluge of ads (more than $200 million spent by billionaires so far) to defeat the California billionaire tax, is spectacularly misleading.
Let me explain its crucial flaw. 🧵
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Zucman argues that the tax will raise his projected revenue because billionaires who leave CA after 1/1/26 will be taxed anyway.
At least $542B of net worth (Page, Brin, Thiel) departed the state by 12/31/25.
The entire thread is a misleading denial of this fact.

One of the reasons formal typed prescriptions never say “once daily” is a Latino guy read “once” as “eleven” once, God rest his soul.

When your policies are born out of hostility toward property owners, this is what happens.
Isabel Adon bought into a co-op in the Bronx to build something for her children. Junior Gonzalez did it after serving in the Marines. They say overnight, the city of New York took it all with little to no notice or compensation, labeling their building "distressed" and transferring the deed to a nonprofit. This happened to hundreds of families, nearly all in minority communities. A $60 million settlement has been proposed, but the fight isn't over. Every family deserves the right to build generational wealth without fear of losing it.

Myriam was a 7-year-old French Jewish girl. She witnessed a terrorist break into her school and kill two of her classmates.
She tried to run but tripped while grabbing her schoolbag, causing her ballet slippers to fall out. She stopped to pick them up. He chased her and grabbed her by the hair, shooting her in the head at point-blank range.
The man was Mohamed Merah, and a rap song honoring him and other Muslim terrorists has become the unofficial anthem of the ‘student protests’ in France.

Every time I see something like this about the British Navy i think about the fact that the US Navy went toe-to-toe with them in the War of 1812 with like six frigates and a bunch of privateers and it got so bad that the British admiralty forbade ships from engaging American frigates unless they had a two to one advantage.
Amortization of loans; interest rates; and tax deductions are other big ones. Knew someone who thought the government paid me back to give to a 529.

Looks like the US basically won its war with Iran??
No terminal oil price spike to date. 🛢️
Total flows now at prewar levels (minus Iran). It just skirts Hormuz now.
And Iran's economy is in a tailspin.

> Win
Iran fired its Hormuz gun and it was a water squirt.

UC Berkeley Law is under federal civil rights investigation related to these policies. Don't the law students know better than this? justice.gov/opa/pr/joint-inv…
BREAKING: The flagship law review at UC Berkeley is poised to delete all internal application records after we reported on the journal's use of personal statements to promote "diversity," sparking concerns that the journal is attempting to destroy evidence of unlawful discrimination.
The law review will vote tomorrow on a document retention policy that would require the journal to delete all "Write-On application materials following the conclusion of each year's Write-On process," as well as any materials related to the election of the journal's Holistic Review Committee. It would also bar the law review from retaining "any recordings of election forums."
As a reminder, law review editors have pledged in writing to "uplift Native voices," weigh "diverse life experience" against "technical editing abilities," and "integrate anti-racist sentiment" into the selection process.

I like how even the 1 in 4 stat from the 2010s wasn’t enough for them. Now it’s 1 in 3.
It’s complete nonsense ofc. American university does not have a higher assault rate than African civil wars and if you can’t immediately see this doesn’t pass the smell test you’re ngmi.

amazing how they don’t even pretend elon committed a crime, because they know it doesn’t matter if he did. they’ll find something. the point is just they really hate him, and when democrats really hate someone he belongs in prison.
On the Bulwak podcast, Kara Swisher says Elon might already be in jail under Kamala Harris, and "he knows what's coming for him."
Another one to put in the "what Democrats plan to do if they take power" file:
"If Donald Trump loses the House and the Senate, I would worry. I'd be worried if I were him."
"So they're going to start investigating again. You think he's not on the list? He's at the top of that list."
"He has a very big sense of fate. And I think it's coming for him. And real hard."
They're all just saying this stuff out loud now. There are no secrets about what they want to do.

One of the more ignorant things I see on X all the time, including from @bradlander, is that Israel's presence in the WB is "illegal." No, it's not. Israel was attacked from Jordan in 1967. In that war, Israel captured the West Bank. It's not illegal to occupy territory captured in a war started by the other side until a peace agreement is reached. There has been no peace agreement. Things don't become illegal because you don't like them.
And given that Israel offered several times to give almost all of the WB, plus land swaps from Israel to make up for the remaining territory, the reason the territory remains under Israeli control is the Palestinian side's refusal to accept those offers.

In 1991 eight people were sealed inside three acres of glass in the Arizona desert to prove that a carefully designed farm could feed humans without the outside world, and the design had almost no room in it for animals. Two years later the only thing inside that had reliably fed them was a handful of goats.
Biosphere 2 cost a hundred and fifty million dollars. A rainforest, an ocean, a savannah and a farm under one roof, with the door welded shut for two years and nothing allowed in or out. The farm was the heart of it, and the farm was built on the modern idea: crops first, grown intensively, with livestock as an afterthought at the edges. A few African pygmy goats for milk, a flock of chickens, and four small feral pigs chosen because they could live on scraps.
The pigs did not last the year. In a sealed box short of calories a pig is a competitor, and the crew killed and ate them. The chickens barely laid, because the glass cut the light and there was nothing to feed them that would make an egg. That left the goats, and for two years the goats were the only source of fat in a world designed around vegetables.
The accounts the crew wrote afterwards return to them again and again. The half glass of milk a day was the thing people lived for. When a kid was born it was eaten and the meal was written up like a feast. The men lost nearly a fifth of their body weight, the women a tenth, and the food they dreamed of was never the sweet potatoes they had in abundance. It was the animal they had been given too few of.
The plants were also taking the air. To make the crops grow the soil had been enriched with compost, and the microbes in that soil breathed oxygen faster than anyone had calculated. The level fell from twenty-one per cent to fourteen, the air of a high mountain, until the crew could not climb a staircase without resting and oxygen had to be trucked in from outside. The design that put plants first had removed the thing everyone needed most.
Nobody has ever run the experiment the other way, with a herd at the centre and the crops at the edge. It would not have needed a doctor to explain the results.
They were given three acres and told to feed themselves on plants. They ate the pigs, worshipped the goats, and suffocated.

What does Israel do for us, I keep hearing people ask:
Without Israel, Lebanon falls to Hezbollah, Jordan falls to Islamists, the PA falls to Hamas, Hamas links up with the MB to threaten Egypt, Iran gears up to dominate Iraq, the Houthis take over Yemen and along with the new government in Jordan threaten Saudi Arabia, and so forth. 1/
