"Death permeated this Dashain. Hundreds of lives lost to floods just a month ago. There is no Dashain for their families and there will be no Tihar, just mourning..." Revisit our piece reflecting on dashain and death. api.omarshehata.me/substack-…

If a single song could act as a crash source in Lana signifiers, this would be it pitchfork.com/reviews/tracks…

Read our review of Elephants in the Fog, Abinash Bikram Shah's internationally acclaimed thriller about the disappearance of a young Kinnar girl in Parsa. api.omarshehata.me/substack-…

Review: Elephants In The Fog (2026)

Deep and profound yet gripping and unpretentiously palpable, Elephants in the Fog exhibits a virtuosic and deeply compassionate synthesis of storytelling, acting and anthropology.

It’s a bird … it’s a plane … it’s the Indian ambassador’s farewell tweets For just over four years, India's ambassador to Nepal @navsri6619 was among the most closely observed residents of Kathmandu. But it turns out that in all that time, nobody thought to ask his excellency what he was watching. @anilkathmandu and I have the scoop on how he spent his final weeks inside the embassy compound. kathmandupost.com/art-cultur…
