Our latest by @isjinpan, Stability of Aerosolized SARS-CoV-2 on Masks and Transfer to Skin, suggests fomite transmission by masks contaminated with aerosolized virus isn't a thing, although it could still be possible with large droplets. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…

#Aerosol acidification important for inactivation of #airborne #Influenza & #SARSCoV2. Unintentional removal of acids & elevated NH3 levels indoors may prolong virus persistence. Overlooked role of #pH important for #virus transmission & mitigation. pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…

1/ Covid and the brain. I am updating my list of papers, which is extensive. But, in the meantime, here is a talk I gave recently, "What happens to the brain when we are on covid." With links to references.

Our paper examining the origins of the erroneous 5 μm cutoff for aerosols v. droplets and the 6' rule is now published. One of my fave interdisciplinary collaborations yet, involving rhetoric, history, aerosol science, fluid dynamics. royalsocietypublishing.org/d… /1

Latest from our lab @jinpan et al. onlinelibrary.wiley.com/doi/… Why are seasonal patterns of flu & other viruses different in temperate (more in winter) vs. tropical (sporadic, maybe with rainy periods) regions? Indoor climate may be a driver. /1

Well-fitting masks will continue to be critical tools to reduce aerosol transmission of disease (i.e. COVID, flu). Various commercial, DIY efforts have popped up to help masks seal better. Some ideas & data via @VTEngineering, incl. @linseymarr. Paper: pubs.acs.org/doi/10.1021/acs…
Issue 6 of ACS ES&T Engineering is now online! Our front cover explores how #3D printing provides a useful process for fabricating low-cost frames that can improve the protection efficiency of cloth masks from particles known to transmit #SARS-CoV-2. ow.ly/Fnrv50F8gbQ

We then analysed samples infected with either B.1.1.7 strain or non-B.1.1.7 strains Again, we found a very nice overall correlation between infectivity and CT values. RDT are again indicated in grey. It performed very well on all strains. 7/15

“What we are trying to say is that the pollution doesn’t stay just in the water — it may get airborne,” @hforout says of his new findings. academictimes.com/salinizati…

Here's the final version of the paper on the outbreak at a restaurant in Jan 2020 by Yuguo Li's team. This and the choir case convinced me, without a doubt, about airborne transmission of COVID-19. Good research takes time.
Incredibly well documented study showing the factors contributing to the airborne spread and resulting infections in a restaurant.... sciencedirect.com/science/ar…
