⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ from the Scotsman for Alright Sunshine! "... a memorable and hard-hitting piece of feminist theatre for the moment we live in; and it deserves a longer life, not least in the city that inspired it"

In 2024 @islacowan has joined us as @IASH_Edinburgh/Traverse Playwriting Fellow, working on a new ecofeminist play.
We sat down with her for a 10 Question interview to find out about the play, her experience of the fellowship & what drives her work.

It was such a joy to visit SUISS this year for an author reading and Q&A - a phenomenal cohort of students with such passion and talent! As you can see from my huge smile in this photo(!), I loved reading from my play She Wolf and chatting all things theatre and playwriting!
We were so fortunate to welcome playwright, @islacowan, to read for our Theatre & Performance students this summer. Isla was so generous with her time, answering questions about her writing practice, and being wonderfully candid about her experience as a writer✨

Loved To Save The Sea at @traversetheatre last night. So good & rare to see uncompromising political theatre that is also that entertaining. Well done to @islacowan, Andy McGregor, @SWtheatre, the amazing cast and everyone else involved! 🌊

Thank you so much @allanbw2 for your kind words about To Save the Sea❤️ So delighted you enjoyed it and for your 7:84 comparison - we made the show with a strong political impetus and the “good night out” tradition very much in mind - so it’s great to hear that you felt this✨
Totally LOVED @SWtheatre's To Save The Sea @traversetheatre this evening. Great writing, great music, great staging, great performances from a cast of EIGHT, and a strong creative team, telling the Brent Spar story.
SCOTTISH THEATRE MAY BE STRUGGLING, BUT IT IS STILL ALIVE!!!

The sheer volume of talent across the whole production of @SWtheatre's To Save the Sea is pretty wonderful. Scots protest theatre grafted to a Larson-like - sung through!! -show of heart, anger and hope... Magic stuff. And a bangin cast!

🎶 To Save the Sea offers a unique mix of two styles of music; rock and comedy broadway show-tunes, think Come From Away meets Operation Mincemeat. 🎵
👉 Don’t miss us tomorrow night at @Macrobert - 7:30pm.
