I’ve noticed something strange about the UK.
We’re told people are struggling.
Yet restaurants are packed.
Airports are rammed.
Gigs sell out.
Holidays are booked.
Meanwhile, mortgages, food and bills keep rising.
So who exactly is feeling the cost-of-living crisis?
My Stocks & Shares ISA is UP today. 📈
Warren Buffett, make some room. There’s a new investor in town.
At this rate, I’ll be buying the supermarket meal deal with my investment returns by Christmas.
Spent £3,000 on a new boiler last year.
Not once has anyone walked into my house and said, “Wow, that’s a lovely boiler.”
It sits in a cupboard, nobody sees it, and it just keeps the house warm.
Adulthood is basically spending thousands on things nobody notices. 😂
£50 a month for water.
That’s £600 a year just to have water in your own home.
And that’s before electricity, gas, council tax, broadband and everything else.
Owning a home isn’t just about paying the mortgage.
It’s the cost of simply living in it.
Remember when £3,500 could get you a decent second-hand car?
Now it gets you 120,000 miles on the clock, a list of previous owners and a dashboard lit up like a Christmas tree.
But hey, at least it’s only £3,500. 🙃
Sunday morning in your 20s:
Wake up at 11. Check your bank.
£14.62 left. No idea why.
Sunday morning in your 30s:
Wake up at 6. Check your bank, mortgage, investments and energy bills.
Still no idea where the money goes. 😂
The clocks have gone back an hour, so naturally my body has decided 04:30am is a perfectly reasonable time to start the day. 😂
Everyone else enjoying an extra hour in bed. I’m already living tomorrow.
It’s going to be a LONG Sunday.
Earning £50k in the UK sounds like a milestone.
Until you realise every pay rise gets chipped away by tax, National Insurance, childcare and a cost of living that never seems to stop climbing.
A decent salary shouldn’t feel like you’re barely getting ahead.
The middle class are being squeezed from every direction.
Mortgage. Food. Energy. Council tax.
Everything costs more, yet you’re still expected to save, invest and build a future.
At this rate, financial security is becoming a luxury rather than a goal.
Imagine working your entire life…
Then turning 80 and being told your State Pension is increasing by just 25p a week.
£13 a YEAR.
Can you imagine relying on that to survive in retirement?
This is why building wealth outside the State Pension matters.
Restaurants are packed. Holidays are booked. New cars are everywhere.
Yet people say the UK is struggling.
Remember, spending money doesn’t mean you have money.
Some are wealthy. Others are funding a lifestyle with debt.
Looking rich and being rich are two very different things.
£15 FOR JUST THREE ITEMS. 🤯
Just done my weekly food shop.
Noticed that it’s £6 for chicken, £5 for cheese and £4 for cereal.
£15 for THREE basic items.
And people wonder why the weekly shop is costing a fortune.
When did feeding your family become this expensive?
£1,075 GONE IN A WEEK. 📉
My Stocks & Shares ISA is down 2.3% last week.
£45,226 invested. And yes, seeing red like this stings.
But this is investing.
You don’t get the long-term gains without sitting through the ugly weeks.
Stay calm. Stay invested.
Friday night.
Cold, dark, pissing down with rain.
You’re knackered from a week of work, the heating’s on, the bank balance is crying and you’ve got absolutely nothing planned.
Getting old is realising this is actually a decent night. 😂
£10 haircuts. £2.50 pints. £5 cinema tickets. £600 first cars.
Remember when being skint didn’t feel quite so expensive?
Now a haircut is £25, a pint is £5+ and a night out rinses £50 before you’ve blinked.
My salary went up.
Funny how everything else got there first.
I’ve officially got skin in the game with $SPCX . 🚀
$1,396 invested. 12.61 shares.
One of the most ambitious companies on the planet.
High risk. Huge potential.
Let’s see where this one goes. 👀
A friend has just told me his student loan was £51k.
6 years of repayments later, he’s checked the balance…
£71,000.
He’s paid money back for SIX YEARS and owes £20k MORE than he borrowed.
The UK student loan system is absolutely mental.
Everyone loves talking about their portfolio when it’s going up.
Not so many show you what happens when the market turns.
£5,635 wiped off my ISA in a month.
Transparency matters MOST when things get ugly.
The goal hasn’t changed. Only the numbers have.
