💧 WHAT A START TO THE WATER YEAR!
We’re only 24 days into the new water year, which began October 1, and Utah’s statewide precipitation is already approaching record-high territory for this point in the season!
The latest data shows statewide precipitation sitting near 295% of the median. That’s nearly THREE TIMES what we typically see by this date. 🤯
After a long, hot summer and concerns about drought and water supply, this October storm pattern has delivered some much-needed moisture across Utah.
One important reminder: A wet start doesn’t erase our long-term water challenges. We still have a long way to go, and how the rest of the water year unfolds will be critical for our snowpack, reservoirs and water supply heading into next summer.
But there’s no question — this is an incredible start to the new water year! 💦

Simply raising taxes to close Social Security's long-term annual shortfall (1.5% of GDP) is easy - as long as you don't care about saving any tax space to pay for Medicare's larger shortfall (3.5%), debt interest costs, or any other spending wishlist item that requires new taxes.

🌧️ BIG 6-DAY RAIN TOTALS FOR UTAH!
This is getting impressive. Current guidance is showing 1-3 inches of precipitation across much of Utah Saturday through Thursday, with locally higher amounts possible.
And the wettest stretch looks to be Sunday, Monday and Tuesday as deep tropical moisture from Hurricane Rachel interacts with a strong Pacific storm.
For some locations, we could receive the equivalent of 2-3 months’ worth of normal rainfall in just a few days. That’s a HUGE amount of water for Utah.
💦 This will be great news for our drought and water supply, but the intensity of the rain could also lead to runoff, flooding and ponding, especially in areas that receive the heaviest bands.
This is shaping up to be a major 6-day precipitation event for Utah. #utwx

89% of seniors (age 65+) believe current retirees’ Social Security benefits should be protected, even if that means higher taxes on younger workers.
Gen Z (Americans under 30) are 8x more likely than seniors to support reducing benefits for current and future retirees to address Social Security’s financial problems.
