Hi everyone, I’m Marvellous, some of you know me as Ini. I’m a few months from finishing my MPH at NYU. I planned for this year with a student loan and a summer internship but it didn’t come through. Then this month, MPOWER shut down. I was on their waitlist.

Its almost like that’s the point..the brand she has built

Walking alone through a foreign city at night and realizing how far you’ve come has to be a top 3 peak moment of all time
If you know someone is waiting for you to finish with a machine at the gym, have some sense of urgency please😭
That’s when some people will remember that they want to rest for 10 mins between sets
I’ll keep clapping for others until it’s my turn👏🏽
Last year, I had three admissions to study for a Masters in Communications to 3 different universities in the United States, THREE
I remember the excitement, the planning, the spending, the prayers… and the heartbreak when the US embassy denied my visa.
As much as it felt like watching a door close right as I reached for the handle, I didn’t let it stop me. I held on to hope and tried again.
The American visa process is so uniquely unpredictable that you have no idea why you don’t get it, just a pink or white slip saying you’re ineligible. I didn’t fully understand what was required, but I was determined to be successful next time.
My new strategy was to build more travel history by visiting several other western countries before returning for my visa interview (if you’ve seen me around the world in the past year, now you know why 😅)
Somewhere between all that plotting and traveling, my friend helped me see that the money, time and effort I was putting into a potential comms degree could as well go into chasing my lifelong desire for a business degree. In that moment, I silently said yes to a dream I had been marinating for years, never quite finished, never quite ready to cook: earning an MBA from one of the Top 10 business schools in the world, as ranked by Financial Times.
Of course I’m a busy girl, and I knew an MBA would occupy, stretch and challenge me, but it will also prepare me to lead on a global stage where I was made for, so I took the plunge.
Today, I’m incredibly proud to share that I have officially begun my Executive MBA journey at Esade Business School 🎉
I have also been awarded the Forté Fellowship for demonstrating exemplary leadership and championing the advancement of women in business. What. A. Dream.!
I’m already halfway through my first intensive residential week and it’s a confirmation of why I chose ESADE, it embodies earned excellence, intentional empowerment and a multicultural community that expands your worldview. I am exactly where I need to be ✨
Through the course of this journey, I will let my curiosity run wild, show myself what’s possible and hopefully grow into the leader I’ve always envisioned. I’m so excited and I cannot wait to meet myself in the next 2 years 🥹
And to you, If you’ve ever been delayed, denied, or discouraged, I hope this long ass caption reminds you that sometimes the best place to start is where you have always known, trust that your own compass points north and follow the heck out of it.
Now clap for me!
