What does it mean to be Baptist? This is a question that I believe needs to be discussed, so I started a substack called "The Radical Baptist." I'll be posting a variety of articles that intend to answer that question. Read my thesis article here: theradicalbaptist.substack.c…

The command to submit is for lost couples as much as it is for the saved. All marriage symbolizes Christ and the church. No husband deserves submission, even the godliest. That’s not why you submit.
The submission convo for me is weird because it keeps getting detached from Christianity, which is the only way it makes sense You cannot and should not submit to a man who doesn’t follow Christ. That man is his own god and you will just end up worshipping him

The same is true in reverse. No wife deserves love, even the godliest. That’s not why the husband loves.

So the doctrine that says the rapture will happen at an unknown time in the future, could be today, could be 1000 years, is unbiblical because it hasn’t happened? That makes no sense.
The reason the Scofield and Darby Pretrib rapture has not happened, is because the Pretrib rapture doctrine is unbiblical. Week after week, month after month, decade after decade, and now centuries. And no rapture. It's time to read the bible and believe what it says.

I’m reading @M_Y_Emerson “He Descended to the Dead” and I find it curious that, as he used the connection between Jonah and Jesus, he didn’t make the argument that Jonah actually died, or at least allude to the possibility of it. I think it would have helped the argument.

The hardest question, but often necessary, in an evangelistic conversation is after someone says they want to be saved, asking: Why? Many people generally like the idea of salvation, but they don’t know why they need it.

This seems like an unethical hack, but if you ever send out an email inviting people to something, like a church event, you're more likely to get a response if you forget to include a detail, like the date and time.

Ideas shape beliefs, beliefs shape behavior, and behavior shapes the culture we leave to the next generation. 🔗 Read the full article here: conservativebaptistnetwork.c…

If I was alive in 1553 in Geneva, I probably would have been put to death for being a Baptist.
Servetus was put to death today in 1553. If you had lived in Geneva in 1553, would you have supported John Calvin in the execution of Michael Servetus or opposed it?

The more I preach, the more I find people falling asleep during the sermon annoying. Yes, there are boring preachers. Yes, preachers can do things to help people. But if the preacher is preaching through a passage, and you follow along in your bible, you won't fall asleep.

If you practice church discipline in glee that the church disciplines a person out of the fold, your heart is sick, if not unregenerate. Rather, we rejoice in honoring Christ even as our hearts break for the sinful choices of a person.

If this is a person you know, who is a member, then maybe a conversation is worthwhile if the reason is just absolute laziness. But if it’s a lost person and you think this, you’ve lost the plot.
Woman at church yesterday showed up in a sweatshirt and literal pajama pants. Wore her hood the entire service. I was absolutely appalled. I hate this whole, “came as you are” narrative the Protestant church preaches. Other religions wouldn’t let you in if you dressed so disrespectfully. Why is it only Christian’s that are held to this standard? That we must just accept everything?

I also have young church members who have health problems that are helped by more comfy clothes.

My brother, anyone who knows any 20th century history knows this. It’s why conservatives through the 20th century disdained the cultural Christianity it wrought. The social gospel ruined so much of America. And modern CNs are using the social gospel playbook to a T.
The more history of mainline Protestantism I read the more I have come to one conclusion: Liberal Protestants were, and still are, Christian Nationalists but you aren’t ready that conversation.

As I phrased it to my church, “God-bearer” is a right description of Mary, but a wrong title. She bore God. She doesn’t deserve a title for it.
1) Jesus is the Son of God. 2) The Son of God is equal to God the Father. 3) The Son of God became man. 4) Jesus is not two separate persons. He is one person—BOTH God and man. 5) Mary gave birth to Jesus. Ergo, Mary is the "Mother of God."
