As the legal battle to determine who leads the party rolls on, Brooklyn Dems' executive committee received notice last night from AM Nikki Lucas – AM Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn's handpicked successor – that she was setting a meeting for Oct. 27 to vote on two new rule changes.

It's kinda wild that @NYCCouncil is so focused on developing restrictions on Micromobility (some of which I support) but doing nothing on these. Why aren't motor vehicles that go over a certain speed or a certain weight illegal. Why are these "Class 10" personal trucks showed?

Per filings, the Court of Appeals on Tuesday signed Genovesi's OSC asking to appeal the 2nd dept decision in favor of @JulioPenaNY
Attorneys for @bkdems Chair @ReElectNydia sent a letter to Chief Judge Rowan on Tuesday, again disputing AF's representation of her as the Chair

After leaving this morning’s hearing, AM Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn is served contempt papers over the Sunday night meeting she and allies convened to elect a new leader of Brooklyn Dems despite a temporary injunction being in place.
The contempt hearing is set for Oct. 19.

A Supreme Court judge has set a contempt hearing for Oct. 19, ordering Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and other Brooklyn Dems party members who participated in last night's meeting to show cause for why they shouldn't be punished for violating the stay halting any vote for chair.

This is going to be a big process server bill, especially for a rush job.

We need to stop this and roll it back. Larger heavier vehicles cause more deaths and injuries, damage our roads more and contribute to congestion.

Rep. Nydia Velázquez, who was accidentally elected chair of the Brooklyn Democratic Party’s county committee last week due to a party leadership error, has words for lawyers representing Rodneyse Bichotte Hermelyn and the county org in court: “you don’t represent me!”

Hey Chris, the UES lacks north/south AND east/west bike lane access. Since January 1, there have been 14 reported cyclist injuries east of the park between 5th and park ave alone. We need something in this area to help improve street safety for everyone.

All models now agree that a strong coastal storm will develop later today. By Sunday, this storm will be pulled westward towards the NJ/NY coast. This will result in a heightened risk of heavy rain, damaging winds and coastal flooding this weekend. More details on the way today.
Time to get it thrown out again.

A County Committee member just pointed out that vacancy appointees should not be voting members at this meeting, since they were not given proper notice of the meeting as per the party's own rules (which state that such notice must be delivered by mail or by telegram).

People keep making weird excuses for the truck but the reality is that both bikes and pedestrians have priority over a car in an intersection like this, especially bike going straight. Bikes have a right to share lanes. There’s no clear bike lane. Right lane would be proper then

Good. FOIL delays are an absolute joke. I know city workers are inundated, but the Mamdani admin should find a way of addressing its legal obligations of transparency instead of delaying inconvenient requests for political reasons.
We have officially filed a lawsuit against the New York City Mayor’s Office for unacceptable delays in providing documents related to Mamdani official Ana Maria Archila's attempt to meet with Iran’s UN ambassador.
Our public records request sought information on scheduling records for Archila over a six month period. We filed this request on July 9. Four days later, on July 13, the Mayor’s Office notified us that we could expect the response around January 11, 2027.
Our lawsuit asks the court to declare the Mayor’s Office’s response unlawful, order it to produce the requested records within five days, and award the attorney’s fees and costs permitted by New York's Freedom of Information Law (FOIL). More broadly, the case asks the court to enforce a modest rule: before City Hall makes a requester wait six months, it must have a request-specific reason for doing so. city-journal.org/article/new…
A great opportunity to move to Hell‘s Kitchen. We have some of New York’s best bike lanes.
Looking for an affordable apartment in Hell’s Kitchen? The lottery is underway at The Lirio on W54th Street, with rents starting at $863 — but there are just a few weeks left to apply. #W42ST
