While he has been battling injuries in recent years and still is, when he is on the field, he gets open. Primarily playing as an outside receiving that runs in-breaking routes in the intermediate areas of the field, he has a vital role in moving the chains.
Now he is on a new team with the Steelers and Aaron Rodgers and has run 39 and 31 routes in 2 games, while sitting out in Week 2.
He has the highest separation score on the team so far but the targets have yet to follow.
Now he gets a Browns matchup that plays a lot of man coverage and is top 12 in target rate to outside receivers. This points us to either Metcalf or Pittman.
I prefer Pittman here as most of Metcalf's stats (high air yards, deep routes, etc etc) are coming from uncatchable targets. He has an NFL leading 206 Air Yards, but only 54 of them have been "catchable." In a game that I don't expect to be super high pace and volume, I want to bet on the guy that is getting open more and has a higher conversion on his targets.
The Browns are allowing the 2nd highest aDOT and 6th highest YAC/Completion on throws to the middle of the field, which is exactly where Pittman works, while DK works more on the outsides.
Backing the regression on the ladder as he is getting open, he has the matchup, and now if the targets follow, he should have a great game.
