Sorry to side with our coming overlords, but “AI Soviet Afrofuturism” is fantastic!! Cc @economeager @ATabarrok
Today I asked the AI to interpret the phrase "Soviet Afrofuturism" and this is what it spat out

Looks like I requested my Twitter archive just in time. I finally managed to download. Parsing with github.com/timhutton/twitter… turns it into a nice human readable format. While we can't replicate experiences, I do enjoy the pioneers' vibe and emerging culture at Mastodon.

Hmm, dunno if the cross-posting is working yet. Let's try t->m #tm
Wrote up a new piece on a pattern I've called "programming portals" – small, scoped windows in graphical interfaces that let you drop into programmatic syntax. Common in apps for end-user programming. Blurs the boundary between dynamic visuals + syntax maggieappleton.com/programmi…

Hey @smashingmag @A11YProject can you point me to potential partners in Leipzig, Germany who can use funding and networking opportunities for #a11y #accessibility purposes? Specifically looking to involve expertise of disabled people to emerging initiatives for equity. RT? thx!

Not for nothing, also looking for web devs who can help update and build some digital infrastructure for said initiatives with a rejuvenated @kreativleipzig (note to self: I should probably take on responsibility for the twitter handle).

What a treasure trove of reading material, courtesy of your friendly neighborhood twittersphere.
Art historians and #EnvHum folks, I'm teaching an art and environments grad seminar and want to spend a few weeks thinking about extraction, geology, mining as they relate to visual and material culture. What are the best books and articles on these topics?
That *is* a smart way to provide context with very little space/ink.

I had this open in my browser tab and forgot who pointed me there, but thank you! A history of human machine interfaces, neatly arranged on a web site. history.user-interface.io/

Probably quite unpopular opinion, but after two-plus years of far-below-capacity operations and the two-pronged demand shock of everyone catching up on travel and the 9-Euro ticket, the very fact that German railway is still functioning at all is an operational marvel.
Heute seit langem mal wieder mit der @DB_Bahn unterwegs. Das Chaos ist unbeschreiblich … dieses Land ist dysfunktional … in vielen Bereichen agieren (nicht selten maskentragende) Dilettanten

the roger ebert "what is this thing trying to accomplish and how well does it pull that off" metric of critical eval is such an effective and healthy rule to follow while consuming works and genres and styles outside of your wheelhouse

For all the jokes about open tabs: 8 open contexts is just about the upper limit of human cognition to hold several items in working memory to conceptually reference them. Go beyond 5 and you start to need grouping and metonyms or hyperonyms for hierarchical indexicality.
This weird engine is 18th Century CE; It allowed researchers to work efficiently with up to 8 open books at the same time.
This classical cryptography thread is spectacular.
