Only Alabama and Western Michigan can cause opposing teams to rush the field after mediocre wins

Well the Tide let UGA beat them two weeks in a row despite DeBoer’s warning. Tennessee won today like Alabama used to. But at least it wasn’t a loss to Auburn 😳

One of the most important parts of taking a job in athletics: If the President/Principal/Head of School is indifferent toward athletics, DON’T GO!
Have seen lots of reaction to the ESPN series on Nick Saban. A lot of history, reported then and subsequently (wrote a book on this, in fact), has been forgotten: Saban left MSU in 1999 for two reasons, both tied to then-President Peter McPherson. McPherson had welched on a $150,000 (not $100,000) raise committed to Saban. The stock market in the late '90s boomed and McPherson did not believe he could sell that raise to the MSU Board of Trustees. Saban then was making less than Tom Izzo. That violation of pure financial principle set the stage for Saban at least listening to another offer, even though he and Terry through their coaching stops had always most loved East Lansing, had wanted to return there, and most definitely wanted to stay in November, 1999. Another factor was McPherson's indifference to Saban's coaching. Even though the president had not been to a college football game between his college days and his arrival as MSU president, he "didn't believe Saban was a good second-half coach." True appraisal. What might have been considered by the president, even if he had been on firm ground -- and he certainly wasn't -- is that in 1998 the Spartans had only 71 players on scholarship within a roster's 85-man limit. That was due to attrition inherited from George Perles' NCAA probation sentence. Small wonder some second-half leads in 1998 had washed away. By 1999, Saban had a full scholarship roster, and a 10-2 record. But the tensions and intolerances had grown too severe, and Saban was at least open to LSU's offer. Even after Terry visited Baton Rouge and told him it was a "diamond in the rough" they were going to stick in East Lansing. A long night of talking and not sleeping preceded a 5:30 a.m. phone call from McPherson who, in Saban's view, was "belligerent" and insisted Saban wasn't going to put MSU over a barrel. The Sabans decided at that moment to leave for Baton Rouge.

I don’t understand. How did he get a head injury when the UGA defender hit him in the shoulder pad? 🙄
Kalen DeBoer on injuries: "Ryan Coleman-Williams has a couple things going on to work through, an injury with his knee, we'll deal with that. Has the head issue as well. We'll address that this week. ... There's a good chance we won't have him this weekend. With Delgatty, we'll continue to evaluate in the days ahead. He'll be pretty sore, limited for sure early in the week. ... Terrance (Green), that's an injury that's been going on a couple weeks now that has been limiting him in practice."

One thing is for certain. UGA fans know how to bite the hand that feeds them. All I’ve seen from them is how Alabama and Nick Saban have cheated for years and this was payback. You people should be thankful for Alabama football and Nick Saban. Otherwise you’d still have coaches like Richt, Goff, or Donnan.

Officiating “expert” Matt Austin says the ball bounces up from his hands to his chest then says it is incomplete. I thought it had to hit the ground to be incomplete @SEC @SECOfficiating

Dear @SEC when this guy takes up for Alabama, you know you’re terrible. Waiting on your statement of how this group of people impersonating officials will be suspended.
Insanely blatant missed pass interference there! Are you kidding me?!

Please @KirkHerbstreit & @cbfowler get Matt Austin out of the booth. He was a terrible @SEC official and he’s worse as your expert.

Wonder how many more years I’ll be able to post this. The New York @Yankees have not won a World Series WITHOUT THE CAPTAIN since 1978.

Biggest mistake Boone has made this postseason is not playing Caballero
As we discussed on Monday’s postgame show on YES, I’d start Caballero at 3B tonight. He can be a catalyst. Maybe the ex-Ray will make a “Rays-like” play vs TB. The Yankees’ offense needs a boost. I could also see Volpe getting the start over Jazz at 2B.

Another reason to play the middle with two outs and a runner on second (especially the winning run) is that you hold the runner close. A step or two can make a difference. One step to the right and 2B catches the ball. Few steps to the left by SS keeps the runner closer. If a ball gets up the middle in this situation the runner almost always scores. If it’s hit through the 4 or 6 holes the LF and RF have a shot if the runner is held on at 2nd.
