According to the sheriff, the man had chatted online with an undercover detective posing as the guardian of a 13-year-old boy. He then showed up at the meeting spot with diapers and wipes in his backpack, some of them Disney brand, Judd said.
He was far from alone. 𝐀𝐭 𝐥𝐞𝐚𝐬𝐭 𝟏𝟕 𝐃𝐢𝐬𝐧𝐞𝐲 𝐚𝐧𝐝 𝐔𝐧𝐢𝐯𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐚𝐥 𝐰𝐨𝐫𝐤𝐞𝐫𝐬 𝐰𝐞𝐫𝐞 𝐚𝐦𝐨𝐧𝐠 𝐭𝐡𝐨𝐬𝐞 𝐚𝐫𝐫𝐞𝐬𝐭𝐞𝐝, 13 from Disney and four from Universal, according to the sheriff. Both companies told investigators the employees were fired.
The operation, called Polk Around and Find Out II, ran two simultaneous undercover investigations. Fox reports it produced 𝟒𝟖𝟖 𝐧𝐞𝐰 𝐜𝐡𝐚𝐫𝐠𝐞𝐬, 𝐢𝐧𝐜𝐥𝐮𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐚𝐥𝐦𝐨𝐬𝐭 𝟐𝟎𝟎 𝐟𝐞𝐥𝐨𝐧𝐢𝐞𝐬. Authorities said 11 possible trafficking victims were identified, and 24 suspects showed up carrying firearms.
These are arrests, not convictions, and the suspects are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. But the sheriff says the undercover chats and the evidence found on the men are what brought them to his stakeout, and he isn’t apologizing for it.
