We must pay a visit @TomCoyle65 @TrueBlue_Terry
I have just been recording a podcast with @Southwark_News (about the Old Kent Road) and thought while I was in the area I might pay my respects at the Sussex Embassy. The Harvey's Sussex Best unassailable as ever.

I know we've all heard it a million times, but it's still a wonderfully ramshackle piece of neckerchief rock that always brings a smile to my face from the opening notes of the intro😍

This article mentions two landmarks local to me that I often drive past. The equestrian statue of Wellington in Aldershot and Camberley's famous white concrete elephant, still on the A30 at Blackwater.
A concrete elephant that was once paraded through the City of London, from today's new post: Walking the Rocque Ring Part 4 – Hyde Park Corner, Wellington Arch, A Missing Horse and an Elephant at alondoninheritance.com/
My first European away trip. The beer was great and ridiculously cheap. Flew into Vienna and got the bus into Bratislava.

Can remember buying this with my school dinner money! A genuinely great year in music. So many hit singles across different genres.

Love Gram, and still play a few of his tunes today. A couple of years ago I went to Joshua Tree and a few of the places associated with his visits there. Alarmingly you can actually rent the room at The Joshua Tree Inn where he shuffled off this mortal coil!
On September 19th, 1973, Ingram Cecil Connor III — better known as country-rock visionary Gram Parsons — died in Joshua Tree, California. At just 26 years old, he narrowly missed the macabre “27 club.”
Born November 5, 1946, in Winter Haven, Florida, Parsons’ musical career lasted only a decade. However, his impact has stretched on far longer, leaving an indelible mark on artists like Emmylou Harris, the Eagles, Linda Ronstadt, and others.
History largely credits Parsons with founding the country-rock genre, but he preferred to think of his work — a shimmering kaleidoscope of country, R&B, folk, rock, and soul — as “Cosmic American Music.”

More than a smidge of same period McCartney too.
Many have paid homage to late 60s/early 70s Beach Boys but few with such loving accuracy as XTC.
Totally sublime.
