I’m so excited to share this… @triplejHack and @RadioNational’s science crew have teamed up on a podcast! It’s called Who’s Gonna Save Us and it’s about climate change, but not in the way you think. It’s about solutions and the people fighting for them. open.spotify.com/episode/10l…

Big story from ABC's @jcobevans. Senator Canavan says the Coalition is latching onto nuclear ..."as a silver bullet, as a panacea because it fixes a political issue for us, that it's low-emission and it's reliable. But it ain't the cheapest form of power." abc.net.au/news/2024-12-20/c…

Three coal mine EXTENSIONS, however, appear to have been approved today.
What a difference a decade makes.
Readers added context they thought people might want to know
Plibersek is lying by omission. She has approved 29 expansions to coal & gas mines since coming to power. That the mines are not new is irrelevant to her acceleration of Australia’s contribution to the extraction and burning of fossil fuels. theguardian.com/australia-news… This is why politicians are hated.

Thirty eight years ago today (June 26, 1986 ) elite politicians sitting on the "Australian Environment Council" were schooled on #climate change by CSIRO scientists. #auspol #ClimateEmergency allouryesterdays.info/2024/0…

More gas is used to convert gas to LNG than is used by Australia's entire manufacturing industry or by all Australian households Don't come to me with cries that we have a gas shortage

No one Buys Books. Out of 58,000 books published in one year "90 percent of them sold fewer than 2,000 copies and 50 percent sold less than a dozen copies." Book publishing is essentially venture capitalism. elysian.press/p/no-one-buys-…

I spent 18 months visiting disaster zones, hanging out with hell raisers and learning about the Australian oil and gas industry. Now I can finally share the cover of my latest book -- it's looking pretty... slick. It's out 1 August -- find more here: slickthebook.com.au/

Came across this incredible statistic while doing research for an article about Perth. The average summer maximum temperature at Perth Airport has increased by ~3ºC since 1910. That's more than double the national warming trend!

Why don't we just put our powerlines underground? 1. It would cost more than $2.5million per km (according to AusGrid) which works out to be nearly DOUBLE last year's ENTIRE state budget That's 15 times more than having lines above ground and would take 40 YEARS #springst

Campaigners rightly say it could and should have gone further, but Barclays saying it won't provide finance to new oil and gas projects is still a big deal and part of an increasingly substantial trend. businessgreen.com/news/41722…
