I’m seeing it all over my timeline. People acting like historic sex offence trials were invented for Russell Brand. Years from offence to conviction: Gary Glitter 38 Ghislaine Maxwell 17–27 Rolf Harris 28 Max Clifford 30–37 Barry Bennell 27–39 Where’ve you all been?

If you're $50 short on a bank payment, they'll charge you another $35 for being broke. If a bank loses $50 billion, suddenly the entire fucking economy depends on saving it. Funny how capitalism demands financial responsibility from everyone except the people running it.

Because medically theres no such thing as virginity or the concept of "hymen tearing" these are all cultural myths and the local doctors refuse to burden themselves with correcting it. The vaginal opening has a sphincter-like ring of muscle known as "hymen" and it relaxes+

Just a reminder that there is a big difference between anxiety and an anxiety disorder. Take the case of Errol Graham. His anxiety disorder meant he couldn't leave his flat. Even when his benefits were stopped, he couldn't leave. He starved to death. @andyburnham @patmcfaddenmp
We need an honest debate about welfare, not one built on myths and misinformation. The repeated claim that people receive PIP for mild anxiety simply isn't true. PIP is assessed on someone's ability to carry out everyday tasks, not on their condition or diagnosis.

Let’s say a big producer or director or actor molests me or rapes me tomorrow (luckily I work with amazing people). Do you know what would happen if I came forward? I wouldn’t get praised and treated like a brave survivor, I’d get totally blacklisted. Producers, backers, stakeholders and directors would say I was trouble. That I was a RISK. That hiring me could “cause problems”. Because you become The Girl Who Makes The Allegations. Women do NOT come forward about this shit lightly at all. There’s a massive incentive not to. The whole project gets shut down if you say “that main character assaulted me” and you lose you job.

The Guardian reports fears at least 10 more women may have been attacked by Russell Brand. Police are investigating two further rape allegations. Victims from his trial are expected to describe the impact of his crimes at Monday’s sentencing. theguardian.com/culture/2026…

🆘 ⚠️ The foundations of the British economy are already shaking. House prices are falling. Mortgage approvals are collapsing. Small businesses are disappearing. Families face falling real incomes and energy bills they cannot control. The @bankofengland knows all this. Its own report records the weakening housing market, declining mortgage demand and tighter credit for SMEs. Yet it has arrived with a crane and swung a wrecking ball into the building. Higher rates mean larger mortgages, falling property values, more arrears and repossessions, weaker investment, business failures and greater pressure on renters. The Bank calls this “restrictive monetary policy”. In plain English, it is deliberate destruction: making people poorer until they can no longer afford their mortgage! The inflation is being driven principally by war and imported energy, not a British spending boom. Calling this a cure is dishonest. It is an aggressive monetary intervention whose destructive consequences are known in advance. When the foundations are shaking, responsible authorities reinforce the building. They do not attack it with a wrecking ball.

The Bank of England forecasts inflation at 5 percent. They raised rates yesterday. Every member of the committee voted for the hike. Rate hikes do not lower the oil price. They do not lower the heating bill. They do not lower the diesel price. They only make the mortgage more expensive. Highest taxes in peacetime. Zero growth. A £400 billion welfare bill this Parliament. They cannot fight energy inflation with rate hikes. They are making life harder for ordinary Brits while the debt keeps rising. The UK is hurtling toward a sovereign debt crisis.

If anything has come from the Russel Brand conviction, it’s that an alarming amount of men on here do not understand consent can be withdrawn at any time during sex. Jesus fucking Christ…

I've seen multiple women today talk about being relentlessly pressured into sex they did not want with the replies being full of men hurling abuse at them for considering it rape. men refuse to accept that coercion is rape because if they admit it is then they are rapists.

I am no longer engaging with rape apologists. I suggest you all do the same because you will never make them see any other view. You end up circling the drain and working yourself up. Rape apologists don't deserve your precious time.

If she reports immediately, she's accused of trying to ruin a famous man's career. If she waits, she's accused of inventing it years later. If she tells nobody, she's accused of having no corroboration. If she tells friends, she's accused of spreading rumours. If she continues working in the same industry, she's accused of not being sufficiently traumatised. If she leaves the industry, she's accused of being bitter about her failed career. If she liked the man, she's accused of regretting consensual sex. And if she disliked him, she's accused of having a grudge. You CANNOT win.

Not just Russell Brand's barrister. At the trial of the man who killed my beautiful daughter, Cassandra, his defence barrister repeatedly asked about Cassie's underwear and portrayed her as being promiscuous. She was dead. It seared itself into my consciousness and won't leave.
So now we can say the thing that we couldn't say before: that Russell Brand's barrister's arguments on his client's behalf were utterly disgraceful and seemed rooted in the misogynistic past

This was 7 years ago today My interview with Kay Burley on Sky News, November 2019. Watching this interview again, I realise just how many of the concerns I was raising back then are still very much with us today. We talked about autistic children and adults being admitted to hospital, sometimes for years, families not being listened to and parents living with the constant worry of what will happen to their loved ones when they are no longer around. We also discussed concerns around Do Not Resuscitate (DNR) decisions within the NHS and the importance of listening to families. At the time, Paula McGowan, one of our charity ambassadors, was in the early stages of her campaign for Oliver McGowan training, following the heartbreaking loss of her son Oliver. Paula was determined to make a difference, and I was proud to support her. As a mam of two autistic sons, Patrick and Angelo, these aren't just issues I talk about on television. They are part of my everyday life. Angelo is now 33, and I still ask myself that same question. Who will look after Angelo when Sean and I are no longer around? Will people understand him? Will they recognise when something is wrong? Will they listen to those who know him best? Seven years on, we have seen some changes, including the introduction of Oliver McGowan training, but there is still so much more to do. I have been speaking up for autistic children, adults and their families since 1997. I've never changed my views on the importance of dignity, respect, proper care and listening to families. It saddens me that we are still having so many of the same conversations. 2019 to 2026. Different year, same worries for so many families. I will continue speaking up because these issues matter, and families deserve to be heard. #SkyNews #Autism #OliverMcGowan #AnnaKennedyOnline #AutismAcceptance #NHS #Carers

The interest rate hike today will be yet another economic hit to families facing mounting worries. It doesn't have to be this way. Rather than the blunt tool of interest rates we should be responding to inflation by cutting bills, lowering rents and shifting off fossil fuels.
