Just-DNA-Seq founder @antonkulaga and contributor Livia Zaharia organized an AI in biology workshop for the Resilient Ageing consortium. Sessions covered Gemini notebooks, MCPs, skills and agentic AI, with genomic-agent examples tied to our open personal genomics data mission.
Following up on Just-DNA-Lite, our open-source platform for analyzing your own genome locally. We made two short video walkthroughs so you can see it in action without installing anything.
github.com/dna-seq/just-dna-…
Intro walkthrough by Livia, run on her own real genome: upload a VCF, get variant annotation, 5000+ PRS from the PGS Catalog, and health-risk reports, all in a few minutes on a laptop.

And the part I'm most excited about, AI-assisted module creation by Newton Winter: hand the agent papers you care about, and it drafts a working annotation module in minutes that you can then edit by hand.

Lazy to install? We feel you. 😉
Skip the setup and test the AI genetic module annotator right now on our public demo server:

Check out our video tutorial showing how to build custom genetic modules using our open-source app, Just-DNA-Lite. This isn't a generic chatbot guide—it's a real genomic tool you can clone and run right now.

is finally released in a stable version- Sugar genie the diabetic chatbot- try it out and leave coments- here or directly in chat, for improvements

Bio.xyz AI hackathon was one of the top and longest bio-ai-hackathons in 2025, and we won it! Please, take a look at our holy-bio-mcp servers! We continue developing and empowering your AI-assisted tools and AI agents even more! lnkd.in/dv5Jnq_k

2. During same week we had a conference with a poster held by Romanian society of Bioinformatics (RSBI) – at Bucharest, Romania
The news about 23andMe filing for bankruptcy feels like the end of an era. For years, they’ve been the face of personal genomics, but their reliance on genomic microarrays—a tech that only looks at pre-selected markers—is outdated. Full-genome sequencing, which reads every base pair in your DNA, is now the standard. And here’s the thing: it’s affordable (200-400€ for 30x coverage).
This isn’t the death of personal genomics—it’s an evolution. Full-genome sequencing offers richer, deeper insights, and it’s becoming more accessible.
We’ve been working on Just-DNA-Seq, an open-source platform that lets you analyze your full-genome data locally. No black-box algorithms, no corporate middlemen. Just transparency and control. Built on OakVar, it’s modular, AI-powered, and designed for ease of use. Check it out: just-dna.life
The future of genomics isn’t about outdated tech or opaque services—it’s about empowering individuals with better tools and greater transparency. 🧬💻
Interesting benchmark video that also explains potential of DNA AI models youtu.be/h8Du8z9G4pA?si=VGE1… Can be of use to make a decision which models to include in our new modules – at Bucharest, Romania
We updated our GitHub organization. I hope the structure looks cleaner now github.com/dna-seq
github.com/google/deepvarian… Deepvariant has been our variant caller of choice for years, now it has a new version – at Bucharest, Romania

We had a first programming workshop with our just-agents opensource library at @ZelarCity Participants were writing code for multiagent systems and tool calling. We are happy for the warm reception of our just-agents library! #LLM #opensource #longevity
We had a great hands-on coding workshop on making your own genomic module in @ZelarCity!
Some of the participant modules were published to the genomic appstore as a result! – at Berlin, Germany

New version of our just-agents library has been released! github.com/longevity-genie/j… Now it is possible to separate the code and agent-prompting by defining the agent configuration and prompt in declarative way inside of yaml files
