Twelve years ago today, “Gas Leak!” aired on ABC 4Corners. Many of us trusted the QLD Crime and Corruption Commission to act on the volumes of evidence. #4corners #auspol

Thanks. You're right, The Big Steal should have gone harder on Julie Bishop. She was paid US$600,000 a year to spruik for a fringe bank, Greensill Capital, that went bust for $20 billion, and to promote a guy who has been disqualified for 9 years from running companies in the UK.
Excellent book @TheRealPBarry. Rockliff taken in by Gupta and now equally enamoured by Firmus. Interested that David Cameron’s role with Greensill described in detail but no detail re Julie Bishop’s role as his Asia Pacific Chair and registered lobbyist. #auspol

The fall of our democracy shall not be televised. “Commonwealth Departmental Secretaries …setting out measures they propose to control how officials are questioned when appearing before Parliament, along with proposals to control how what officials say and do when testifying before Parliament can be used in public communication and public debate.”
Shame on a Labor-controlled Parliamentary Joint Committee accepting a departmental secretaries’ proposal to ban clips of officials’ parliamentary evidence being posted on social media, but not accepting a rebuttal submission. #NoFreeDebate #auspol strategicanalysis.org/fear-o…

The Public Inquiry into AUKUS, led by a former federal Labor Minister, Peter Garrett, and included former WA Labor Premier Carmen Lawrence, and former defence chief Chris Barrie as commissioners, has found AUKUS should be suspended, and subject to a Royal Commission!

One day, we will look back at this time in Australia's history where the entire nation went to a vote and denied Indigenous people a direct voice to parliament while directly after that, the government of the day walked away and gave that voice to Israel - without a single Australian vote being cast or a person being asked. One day we will wonder how we allowed Australia to be captured and ruled by a foreign nation, for our thoughts to be policed and our rights to artistic expression and freedom of speech curtailed by an unelected, South African born, multi-millionaire white woman from eastern Sydney who answers to lsrael. One day we'll have to tell our children and grandchildren that this woman thought that protesting against a war where children are bombed and burnt alive in their beds is an evil thing to do, but marching with a Nazi protest sign is nothing worth worrying about. One day we will have to explain this upside-down madness, this state-captured think speak we all allowed to happen and wonder why we didn't do more. One day, everyone will have always been against this. #SackSegal .

My latest article for @shot_au where I point out that Segal's latest 'report' was not requested by government or the PM. It's simply a rehash of last year's report - with a purpose beyond its pages. It's arrival has more to do with her strategy of filling media spaces with antisemitism angst now the royal commission is over, and also influencing the royal commission findings. It is also a document designed to inflame culture wars and get people arguing and create political division - a classic tactic of conservatives the world over. Nothing Segal says is new, (except of course for the astonishing claim she makes that all Jews in Australia are unbothered by neo-Nazis!) Comments welcome. theshot.net.au/uncategorized…

In June, the Prime Minister promised greater transparency around lobbyists and their activities in Parliament House. But the government’s new register, released this week, names fewer than one in ten sponsored pass holders.
