Why I spent $1 million on a PSA 10 1st Edition Charizard:
Because it’s sick. And it’ll be sick in 25 years too.
I've been in the collectibles space for a long time, and it's clear there’s still so much room for growth. When I think about what I want to own for the next 10, 20, 30 years, Pokémon cards top that list.
And this Charizard is the purest expression of my belief in this community. First Edition, Shadowless, Base Set, Gem Mint 10, clean 6 cert. There's no better version of the thing I wanted as a kid.
There aren’t many things I could spend money on that I'm confident I’d still love in 2050, but this is one of them.
I think there’s still a lot to improve in this space, and I’m building something to bring this vision to life. If you’re a fellow collector or builder in the space, dm me and follow @TCXcards.

kyro says his $1,000,000 PSA 10 1st edition Charizard will be worth $10,000,000 in a decade
“I think this is a $10 million card in a decade. With any collectible, you have to be able to hold it through downturns. I’m very comfortable holding this until 2041”
“You have to like it. I would never recommend someone who doesn’t like Pokémon cards to buy Pokémon, because then you won’t be able to hold it when prices go down”
“We’ve seen the first-edition Charizard outperform pretty much anything, whether it’s the S&P 500. I don’t know if it’s outperformed BTC, but it’s outperformed a lot of things in the last 10 years”
Kyro reveals he spent $1,000,000 on a PSA 10 1st Edition Base Set Charizard because he thinks he’ll get priced out
“You’re seeing cards that people didn’t really care about sell in the $200,000-$700,000 region. Whereas this card for a while didn’t have any public comps and it was kind of stagnant”
“I also think this is the BTC of Pokémon and it’s something I’ve always wanted so it was just, hey let me just rip this because I might not have the opportunity to ever buy this again. I might genuinely get priced out”
